stop trying to quantify things into each other

that a) doesn't make sense and b) is irrelevant

you take drugs occasionally, the effects are effects you get from taking drugs occasionally

you eat chinese takeaway everyday, and the majority of people would see negative effects from it physiologically

its so obvious, it shouldn't need to be pointed out, just do all things in moderation and you should be cool

easy peasy

Just moderate moderation itself

correction

I believe part of aspartame isn't bad for you...
the phenylalanine part...consumed in moderation

considering that you are not one of those suffering from the...
well over 100 different genetic variations of Phenylketonuria...

and I don't care if urine soaked eggs will balance my bloodsugar levels

I'm not eating kinderpiss eggs

...unless I'm dehydrated on a disabled boat in the middle of the pacific

The Japanese have this saying...

That if at any point in your life..you decide that you want to live forever
You go drink 8 lbs of sap from a pine tree...

I'm guessing it will kill you.

Whether it has any effect on human metabolism is another matter that isn't necessarily clear cut, because different people will have different reactions to it.
If we want to get really technical about it, it's the difference between the sodium salt of glutamic acid and the acid itself, although in an ionic solution the difference is that there are a bunch of extra H+ ions floating around rather than Na+.

So yeah, it will have different chemical properties, but anything interesting that the glutamte part does will be identical because it's the same ion.

Well, technically the acidic version will have H30+ ions floating around. Also, isn't glutamic acid is less soluble than sodium glutamate? So you will have fewer dissociations, and less of it will probably enter into your system to begin with.

Thinking about picking some up on the way home...

Don't like Chinese food (can't stand the shit really) so can i put little bits of this in other food types and make it taste a bit better? I'm not doing this for me, i'm a decent cook, but i'm thinking of carrying a little bit around with me so i can sneakily put it in other people's food.

If i have flavours in my mouth i dont agree with i'll just vomit. Bit impolite really.

MSG goes in all sorts of foods, not just chinese. It's just that it was first popularised in the East. It's not even in all chinese cooking, it's only used in certain dishes and very rarely in home-cooked food. Dumping it into other food that's crap tasting isn't going to automatically make it considerably better.

Whether it's healthy or not, if you need to chuck a bunch of MSG into the food you're cooking in order to make it tasty, you're doing it wrong.
