Re: Is it mixdown or mastering?
also i'm sick and tired of shitty indie acts and over-sensationalized rock revivalists i.e. the Black Keys, or their gimmicky older brother the White Stripes.
as a society we need to give people incentive to put their all into the music, and we need to incent those with money to take risks on those artists, pay them an advance and invest in their potential, craftsmanship and creativity, and in the craft of the engineers, producers, and marketers who promote to us the things we want to hear.
If we don't, we are heading toward a big fucking cesspool of mediocrity.

downloading a chestplate set from rinse isn't the same as ripping each song from CHST017 from youtube.Immerse wrote:there is no stealing going on. the same thing is going on if one downloads a mix instead of downloading from YT. they simply arent receiving the moneyHuts wrote:no need to steal

now imagine a steady decline to that level of effort, craftsmanship, time, and resources, put into rock and jazz -- dubstep/edm are safer, because people will always find time to crank out dubs for DJ's, tracks are meant to be mixed, are cheaper to produce... and, arguably, it's more difficult to write good rock and jazz.Coolschmid wrote:We already have one, its called brostep.Today wrote:If we don't, we are heading toward a big fucking cesspool of mediocrity.
I really do fear a time is coming when we'll end up with the epitome of the Dubs forum being the only supply of music for listeners of any genre. because, no one wanted to pay.

Except for the fact that there's a fortune to be made in live music. The industry's already rebuilding itself on the backs on independent artists, it'll be alive and well for a long time.
