HELL YEAH. This stuff is always played in cars during summers in Chicago.

there we gooo , same shit here in nyc, it'd be dope if it came back, with a darker edge or some shit , more bass. i read somewhere on the webs that theres been a resurgence with some radio stations dedicating slots.. if the gap between mainstream and underground was as small as it is in europe or elsewhere, it wouldnt be seen as "dead" , theres still new artists pushing it, just no exposure here :/

I don't think it ever went away. It's played in flea markets and stuff all over the country, and it's still really big in parts of LA and Miami. They still release mixes and make tunes. Kinda melded into breaks over time. Still can hear it on the radio on the weekends at 2am in quite a few cities.

DJ Trilogy is the only name I still hear consistently with freestyle. I was never into the music personally, but he seems to be one of the bigger names.
Serious hit up a flea market, they have hundreds of CDs. Even seen freestyle and breaks DJs playing flea markets before lol.
