VERY Positive and Inspiring message about haters (Joe Rogan)

Post by ChadDub » Fri Apr 06, 2012 12:16 am

Just saw this on Bassnectar's Facebook. I watch Joe Rogan's podcasts and I watch his youtube videos (snippets from his podcasts usually) and I really love him and his message. This is him and his friend talking about becoming what you want to be and how you can do it if you stay positive.

If you do not want to watch the whole thing, I think you should listen to at least just the part at 3:04 about scarcity. This applies to me SO MUCH and I think it applies to every single one of you as well.

they put you in a water tank with the temperature being 98 degrees like our bodies, they shut the lights off, and your under water with no sound. basically its a technique called sensory deprivation and they cut all your stimulation out and it leaves just your mind to wander. if we don't have even the slightest stimulation our brains kinda go nuts and it makes you trip out. but according to joe rogan once he got comfortable he was able to have an awesome mind opening experience with just him and his thoughts.

Yeah, it's called the Sensory Deprivation Tank, or SDT. There's one that's 2 hours away from where I live and I want to go and have a session one day, it seems really cool and enlightening.

What it does is it makes your brain trip out because you get absolutely no sensory data flowing into your brain, and it makes you hallucinate and you can have outer body experiences and stuff. Joe's also described it as an easy route to "monk-like meditation".

yeah those isolation tanks sound crazy, there's a place that have them a few minutes away. I think the water is some sort of salty solution too and you just kinda float inside. Invented by the great Dr. John Lilly who also did a whole bunch of ketamine in session ;DD

Yeah the water has 800 pounds of salt in it so it's very buoyant.

The idea of SDT frightens me...
Maybe because i've had a bad experience with the use of stimulates before!

Last time I realized a lot, but got quite depressed for a day or 2 after!

edit: I am not condoning the use of drugs...it was a one time thing!

Well the SDT doesn't use any drugs... using drugs to stimulate your brain can fuck you up, having your brain stimulate itself shouldn't.

4′ Wide x 8′ Long x 7′ High ~ Gold Satin Anodized

What is a Floatation Chamber?
A Float Lab floatation chamber provides a light- and sound-free environment containing 12″ of solution consisting of water and about 1000 lbs. of dissolved Epsom salt. The fluid temperature is maintained at external body temperature[around 95˚]. Inside the Chamber, the participant floats effortlessly without gravitational requirements and neither sound nor light input to consider.

What are the benefits of floating?
-Relaxation
-Reduces Stress
-Improves sleep patterns
-Normalizes blood pressure
-Enhances ability to stay focused and concentrate
-Unlocks the creative centers in your brain
-Strengthens immune system
-Pain relief from injuries/ailments
-Helps reduce addictive behavior
-Alleviates symptoms of depression and anxiety
-Relieves inflammation in joints
-Speeds recovery from Jet lag

How big is a Chamber?
The dimensions of a standard Float Lab Chamber are 4′ Wide 8′ Long x 7′ High.

Does it have other names?
Yes: Sensory Deprivation Tank, Float Tank, Floatation Tank, and Isolation Chamber

Is it hard to do?
No. In fact, the less you do the better. It may take a couple sessions to get the hang of it.

Do I shower before using the Chamber?
Yes. To extend the life of the filtration system, showering beforehand is extremely important. Using the shower afterwards is also suggested to remove the coating of Epsom salt that is left on the skin and hair.

What do I wear while floating?
You don’t wear anything while floating.

How long do sessions last?
2-hours. Stay in until you feel you are ready to get out.

Should I eat before floating?
A heavy meal beforehand is not suggested, however you don’t want to hear your stomach growling. Also avoid caffeine before floating for it may interfere with your ability to relax.

Will I float? I don’t normally float in water.
Yes. It is impossible not to float in the tank. 1000 pounds of Epsom salts dissolved in the water make a buoyant solution much denser than water alone. So no matter your weight or height, you will float on your back without effort. As you lay back, the water will reach the temples; leaving your eyes, nose and mouth fully exposed.

Can you fall asleep in the tank?
Yes. Many people safely fall asleep in the tank as a result of being so relaxed. Even those who say they never sleep on their backs in bed, do so very easily in the tank. People may think it is unsafe due to the fear of rolling over. If this were ever to happen, the salinity of the water would irritate the eyes and nose- immediately waking the floater.

Can two people float in one tank at the same time?
No. Floating is intended to be a private, individual experience.

What if I am claustrophobic?
The thought of being in a dark space can be frightening to some. However, as with your eyes closed, total black does not create an enclosed, confined, limited or restricted feeling; it actually seems vast or unlimited. Our Chamber models are big enough to stand and walk around in. Remember, you are in complete control of your surroundings, so if need be, you can exit the Chamber at anytime.

Will I have Epsom Salt stuck in my ears?
No. Earplugs are provided to enhance your floating experience. We recommended rinsing your ears out with water after each session.

Is the salt dangerous to your eyes?
No, but it can be a little uncomfortable. Before entering the Chamber, make sure to dry your face off, push your hair back and keep your hands away from your eyes.

Is anyone unable to use the tank?
People with infectious diseases and those who are epileptic[not on controlling medication for the condition] should avoid using the tank.

Can pregnant women float?
Yes. Pregnant women probably get more relief from floating than most people. The extra weight carried by the mother-to-be can be very stressful due to the forces of gravity. Floating eliminates the negative effects of gravity, which causes joint pain, inflammation and stress on the organs as well as the unborn baby.

Pregnant women have also reported a reduction of erratic movements of the baby inside the womb. This is due to a phenomenon call “mirror effect.” The baby is safe and secure inside the womb and the mother shares a similar experience in the isolation tank. Women report a stronger connection with their baby when exposed to this environment.

i used to only listen to music podcasts every so often but a few months ago i decided on checking out Joe Rogan's podcast after watching a youtube video like that one with Bryan Callen, and now i listen regularly and try to watch the live ustreams when i can. It's by far one of the greatest ways to kill a few hours, usually resulting in being inspired

some of his best guests are:

Bryan Callen - good for inspirational type conversations and also hilarious

Duncan Trussell - great for social commentary, philosophical conversations, that sort of thing

Joey Diaz - completely absurd true stories, most of them illegal, curses more than some sort of RPG warlock, and is ridiculously funny

also, some really good ones that have only been on once thus far:

Graham Hancock - archaeologist and author, really fascinating episode and person as well. his work runs counter to the accepted academic standards of the origins of civilization

Hamilton Morris - writer for Vice.com, really slow moving episode but great if you're interested in pharmacology

I did this twice...pretty relaxing shit. It feels like 2 hours go by in 10 minutes. I went to FloatLab in Venice, CA...kinda shady location, but the dude that runs it is awesome. I give it a :h:

I loveeee Joe Rogan. He's actually why I tried this..
