BlueStray - OSS (Skrillex Style Bass)

Post by runrandy91 » Mon Apr 09, 2012 11:59 pm

Hey guys, I have been trying to achieve the Skrillex growl effect for a while. This is a song I made using a similar sound I created. Let me know what you think!! Thanks!!

I think you have the right synth/wavetables and it sounds really close (you got closer than I can get hehe). I think you need to now start getting the re-sampling and distortion down. It sounds a little too distorted. Very hard sound to make tho so congrats on what you have done so far! I seem to be the other way round. Good distortion, modulation and stuff but I swear i'm just using the wrong wavetables for the job lol. If your using FM8 your defo on the right path.

Peace :)

Thanks for the feedback man!! I am using fm8 and a few filters...I usually use Massive but I couldn't seem to get it quite right, so I tried it with fm8. And I couldn't agree more, the distortion is a bit off...and I often struggle with EQ settings. But ur def right ab it being a difficult sound to make...plus its not exactly easy incorporating a sound like tht into our songs. Best of luck to the both of us :) Thanks again!!

No worries bud! but yeah FM8 defo the way to go man. My friend Barron (producer) has got it down really good with the FM8. Unfortunately I'm struggling to get to grips with the FM8 well FM synths in general lol yeah good luck man.
