Best Dubstep Song?

Post by AlexanderTyberious » Tue Apr 10, 2012 9:05 pm

Alright, so I came over to this forum to seek out some diverse and new dubstep songs like I had never heard. Music to me isn't just rhythm or art, music is a form of expressing oneself or an idea. Like the flow of water, it can be as big as a river or the ocean itself, or as small as a little creek. But I have to ask, what's the best dubstep song to you? What song just speaks to you in a way no other song can and will never be replaced? Doesn't mean it's THE best necessarily, could be, but maybe just your favorite? What's your number 1? I remember the first song I heard was Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Spirits. But when I heard xKore - Magnum blasting from my two 12's in my trunk, I fell in love. So fellas, whatcha got?

Both of those songs are actually really legit. Thanks, I really like that first one "Level Nine". Idk why i didn't put it in my original post, but Chasing Shadows - Amirah is probably the most BAMF dubstep song I've ever heard. Never got to hear it with my bass, but that song has such a sick flow. Oh and I'm not trolling lol

I'm too scared to look up if someone has done a "You're Not Alone" dubstep remix.

I think we're nearing a Rule 34-type situation where if it exists, there is a "dubstep" remix of it.

Honestly I have to agree, I think there was maybe a handful of songs I looked up that didn't have dubstep remixes. But hell there's a dubstep remix of somewhere over the rainbow from the wizard of oz lol.

Sorry to ruin your fun but in all seriousness

Distance - Fallen (Vex'd Remix)
Lung - Afterlife (Kryptic Minds Remix)
Pinch - Qawwali
Mala - Level Nine
Mala - Like the Way You Should (Digital Mystikz Remix) (that last one is weird because mala IS part of digital mystikz, but idk that's just what it's called. I'm assuming it was either a Coki remix or coki and mala did a remix together or maybe it's just basically a VIP.)
El-B - Buck and Bury (not really dubstep, but whatever, along that sort of vein).

The quality is terrible, the song structure is all over the show as is the mixdown but you could polish this turd and turn out something quite nice. In short, a good idea is there. Very Benga-esque.

hahahaha :t:

Anything by Peverelist or Shackleton for me. Add Vex'd, Mala and Burial and you have my top 5 probably.

Roll With The Punches / Die Brucke and Soundboy's Ashes Get Hacked Up and Spat Out in Disgust are essential releases. Not to mention Degenerate...

First of all, that xKore tune you mentioned OP isn't actually dubstep.. it's 100bpm. Like, there is nothing about that tune that makes it dubstep.

Anyway, best is too subjective to say but if we're just talking personal favourites then:

Andreya Triana - A Town Called Obsolete (Mala Remix)
Movado - Weh Dem A Do (Coki Remix)
Skream - Dutch Flowers (could be this or 20 other Skream tunes depending on how I'm feeling)
Benga & Coki - Night
Breakage - Rain
Phaeleh - The Cold In You

Fuck, I could go on forever.
