Moving to Hawaii, are there any good venues?

Post by synthex » Wed Apr 11, 2012 3:49 pm

I'm moving to Oahu from Denver in about a month and I was wondering if there are any good venues for dubstep?

Moving from a state that has so many amazing venues isn't something I thought about until after I decided to move and now I've realized that I'm going to miss that.

Does anyone here know of any clubs, bars, or venues that have dubstep playing on Oahu?

I saw some flyers for a local dubstep party when i was in Oahu last fall, but since your moving from the place that has possibly the best scene in the US, i think you might be disappointed. On the up side it's an absolutely beautiful place!

There is currently 1 monthly (Lotus Chinatown) and some 1 off events scattered about. There's also usually a "dubstep stage" at the "massives" we have at the waterpark here, which I've never been to.

But once you get here you're not allowed to be disappointed by our club scene. After all, this is Hawaii, not England (or Denver). We have different priorities.

I'm quite excited to be there and I could honestly care less about missing out on shows.

I was just hoping that if I got out there and wanted to see some grimy live music I'd hopefully still be able.

Thanks for the flyer information, please post anything else you know of, I'd really appreciate it.

Sure, will do. I'll post it in this thread.. Nothing much coming up in Honolulu but I was trying to raise a stink earlier today among the promoters here about flying out some dubstep talent.

Silkie posted on Facebook a flyer for a show in a city in Venezuela I've never heard of, and I had the epiphany, fuck why can't we do this in Honolulu?

6blocc was here a couple years ago. Oh, and if you know Paradise Lost, one of the Subdivision guys was based out of here for a while. Incredibly talented dude. Other than that, we're still getting the scene rolling here... I guess people don't move to Hawaii for the dubstep, ya know? Anyways.
