@IamRevival You need to grab a sample from the video game man! :D HOLY SHIT ttiiigghtt drop! Overdrive mechanical synth power! The snare seems to sound way to cut off, you should let it hang just a bit more, slight reverb or delay. The glitch hop section is so unexpected and sick, nniicce! You should do some vocal manipulation in there with the sample you are using. I would have that section continue up a bit more right up to the second bass section, personally that little between them at 2:34 sounds strange because everything just stops. However, that being said, everything is well put together and tight! Powerful, pumping, sick!

@ZankUSA Sounds chill and dark, nice! The reverbs add such an amazing touch to the sounds, fantastic choice on that.I think for the second vocal sample right before the meat, you should turn down the volume of the other parts just so we have the vocals, it would help give the sub to bass rise right after more prominence in feeling. Really cannot add to much, it sounds very well put together and solid, good work man!

@mthrfnk Interesting! The arrangement is well put together! I think once the meaty bass synths kick in, the snare is masked up a bit, you should get that to punch thru a bit more. The transitions between the different sections flow smoothly, good on that! The bass synths themselves sound neat, but I am not to fond of the one that pans left and right, it does not seem to sound "in place" with the other ones. Also you could try lenghten the bass segments a bit and more variation and different patterns. Overall nice work, and yes you should finish it!

Ok so mah plug. I am working on an electrohouse tune. It is in it's early stages, and I am really just looking for feedback on the direction of it so far. ALSO can someone tell me how soundcloud does its transcoding? I noticed that my bass sounds in the soundcloud file do sound a bit distorted, whereas when I listen to them in FL/wav/mp3 on my computer they sound fine. I enabled download if you want to compare it at 1:46

@PeriKardium: The synth that comes in at .30 is a little loud. I feel like you need a nice riser/sweep to add to the build up at 1:41. Drop sounds good.
Mainly I think you should work on your opening segment, it doesn't feel like it quite flows right. I'm not too fond of the bit from .30-1.00. I think its just that synth that i don't like! Otherwise pretty good.

@Mthrfnk: Sure, i'd continue with it. Focus on bringing those drums through on the mix. Make the snare a bit crisper and give it a better punch. Vary that hi-hat a bit more - mess with the velocity and give it some more sqing. Some of the synths you use sound a bit muddy to me, might just be by headphones.

@ZankUSA: For some reason I feel like the sub should be an octave lower. Would have a much better rumble, maybe give it a try? I like the intro, nice atmos.

@Revival: Well, the drop is great. Really wasn't expecting that from the intro. I'd work on giving more into the intro, needs an epic build to compliment that drop. Not sure if the break you have in the middle of the song goes on for a little too long. Good work.

@Goochrock: Some sweet percs. Yeh I really like the feel of this. Sub is too quiet in my headphones. In fact the bass sounds kind of weird as a whole. Everything else sounds really good though, i really likke it.

My take on dub techno, just a clip:

@ Stranger_sounds : Pretty nice sounds here, not my cup of tea but very smooth and well produced. Nothing to say on that, good job :)

@PeriKardium : Really not my cup again :(. Your intro is long, but sounds pretty good. Your synth after your drops sounds cold. Your drums are a bit too basics, add some groove to your hats.

@mthrfnk : I like your drums on the intro, but after the drop, your snare is too low. There's something that I don't like on your hat ( just my feeling maybe ). Add more groove too, with shakers and stuff like that. Your synth are not bad, but I think your synthesis and effects could make it sound better.

@ZankUSA : Not too bad mate, your hats ( again I know ) are too basics on this one, and the mixdown is a bit muddy. It's time to improve ambiance on your tunes now, with pads, one shots sfx etc.

@Revival : Build up your tune, and you've got a banger. I get bored on your intro, everything is pretty good but this.

My last tune now, still a clip ATM, taking a break on this one. Too much coffee and cigarettes burned.

@PeriKardium - I like the drop, but the whole song needs to be a little louder. also, this is just my opinion, but I think the drop needs to come a bit sooner.

@stranger_sounds - That's a pretty chill little clip. I was jamming the whole time! haha

@Darj - I like the lead up, to me it seems a little too minimalistic for my tastes, but it flows into a pretty sweet (also minimal) drop. good tune to chill to.

Hey all, I need some help in figuring out the drop. also, this is definitely very raw. I want it to be a kinda "creepy" drop.

@Darj: love this, the ambience and those little incidentals are perfect. i would try adding a few more bass hits to round it out and find a good sample, other than that this sounds pretty much finished. nice work

@stranger_sounds: the beat and all of the sounds are great in this, i would just make those percs a little crisper and sort out that bassline - adding a little more motion in it would make the track dancier, which i think is what you're going for. cool sounds

@PeriKardium: very dancey, you've definitely got that dirty electro sound. i think the best thing for the track would be swap out the drum samples for something a little more interesting, and maybe add some new percs and hats. a lot of your sounds are very digital and using some distortions or amp plugins could help give them that fuller sound. the bassline in this is sick

mine is a remix i'm working on for a remix competition. it's a jazzy hip-hop tune, but i took it in kind of a drumstep direction. i kind of want to win, so any constructive criticism is welcome

cheers

@ Revival - Loved the the gun click sample just before the drop and the rising and lowering notes sound very close to Porter Robinson Unison (Knife Party Remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2GSyQBd ... be&t=1m30s. Just overall tho I felt it was like a buzz thru the track almost white noise and its noticeable during some sections, I don't want to say it's messy but like a sssssssssssss

@Static Dogma - SHITS DEEP! Love the dark sound and liked that the drop did just that dropped off and then BOOM. I'm a huge fan of that. I'm all for build ups but some times a good placement of just silence of fading then a huge bam. choice. SC followed

@mthrfnk - 1:09 the sample to die for, did you find the sample or make it yourself from a clip? And the swell of a "talking bass" (example 1:30) and it's a real head banger. The second drop with the first measure been faster to then slow to half time was awesome! SC followed

not 100% on this one I'm working on this week would love and appreciate some thoughts!

Thanks man, it's a sample from a pack of Movie dialogue cuts. I'll be sure to follow in return :)

As for your track:
Intro is quite cool, but personally I wouldn't have the bass as it is - I'd tease it by filtering it in maybe upto the main section at 1.08. Drums are quite nice, the hats sound really realistic, although when the main section hits I lost the kick, try eqing or sidechaining the basses to let the kick smash through. Nice vibes man.

Thanks dude! And thanks to the ideas. I felt the track suffers from a samesy vibe. so i'll give that filtering a go. The drum kicks I've been messing with the eq to bring it up higher. And I'm really rough on sidechaining so i'll give that a read up on.

Revival: I thought the intro was abit empty, but you've got a very solid drop there. Your midrange seems to be mixed really well with the drums and top end, the only thing i'd say is give the snare abit more top end sizzle, sounds abit muffled to me. Try and add something into that breakdown aswell, maybe some toms building up tension?

Darj: Really feeling this, i'd add some more atmospheric sweeps and ambient sounds in the background and maybe some synth hits/stabs now and again just to fill it out and keep it interesting but it's sounding great atm, deep and dark! :D

Stranger_sounds: Gotta say this had me nodding my head right from the start lol. That percussion sounds great and very crisp, the panning sounds nice too. If you could get hold of some vocal shots and stick them in now and again with a really big delay I think that would sound sick, overall though you've got a sick track here.

I've been working on a Drum and Bass track, only got as far as the intro but i just don't know where to take it from here...any suggestions?

@KrashOverRide - Very cool sounds going on, I really like the realistic sounding cymbals but the kick and snare sound, to me, like they lack impact comparatively. Perhaps it's their levels, or maybe some transient shaping would do wonders. Also, I don't hear much sub action? But it might just be my crappy monitors.

@hoberg - Whaa... the... Very different sound, man. I like the intro, it definitely draws me into the song. My ears want to hear more drum hits and fills leading up through the intro besides the toms. When the beat evolves into the drop it sounds great. But I think the kick and snare need more impact, in my opinion.

@FamiliarTea - Has some real potential there. The crash sounds kind of plasticy to me, and in my opinion would sound really good if it were one that rung out for longer. I don't really know what advice I can give about the drop other than, 'you're on the right track?'. Sorry.

@Darj - I absolutely dig this sound, man. You left just enough open space between your instruments to lend it a sense of impact and laid back-ness at the same time. Bravo. The change in groove around 1:50 is just what the doctor ordered, too. The incidental purcussion is splendid. My ears just want to hear some kind of occasional and light high registry synth, but that just might be my style and not fit into what you were going for.

Here's as far as I got on my latest project before my hard drive failed on me, I can't seem to open the project before immediately crashing, so I'll have to replace it before I can make changes to it... Also, it's a genre bender, so take it with a grain of salt if you don't like anything other than traditional dubstep.

@Sub_Lox thats a sweet intro! As for where to go next, speed it up and make an explosion of bass :) This song has good potential I really like it :D
@Triphosphate SICK! I really like the intro. Big ups!
@FamiliarTea I like it, for the drop i'd recommend a heavy dark minor key saw bass wobble, but thats me do as you wish :)

This is my latest track I'm workin on, thoughts would be helpful:

@Acidrat: You need to sort your drums out man, they sound low passed or something throughout the song. Get some better samples and EQ them right the track will sound a whole lot better. The synth you use could do with some variation, and some other sounds intertwined in there. Its all very bland at the moment.

@Triphosphate: Intro is lovely, very crisp and bright. I think perhaps this build up is too long. After the drop is pretty good. Could do with some more presence with the percussion, make it cut through some more. Second drop is a nice change up. I'd like to hear those little notes you repeat through the song, at 3:40-3:41 for eg a bit louder, they sound good. Not sure if i dig the final change up, just sounds too out of touch with the rest of the song.

@Sublox: Thanks for you previous feedback! Okay this starts off strong straight away. I like the synth, percussion..everything you have going on, builds a nice atmosphere. Nice fill into .44. Definitely keep this one going i'm loving it so far. A nice dark, minimal bassy drop would be perfect next.

Okay, another new one from me. Been churning them out the past couple of days. Coming up with some clips and if people dig them then i'll continue working on them ;-)
Techno-house vibes. Anything constructive please!

@Triphosphate Wow I love this. I like the into a lot. It has a really good feeling. That drop is heavy. A little snappier snare would be cool. I like weird noises and this is full of those. I liked the really dancey second drop too. Made me want to move.

@sub_lox That sounds like it will make a massive DnB track. I want to hear a huge drop after all that.

@AcidRat That is interesting. I like it though. Nothing really wrong i can hear in my headphones. Maybe bring the drums forward in your mix.

So as the description in my song says, I want to get better at using modulation and automation in my songs so I tried to make a song based around those things. It is the traditional yai sound that I just changed throughout the song. Its not really mixed or anything it is more of a learning song but i might make it better.

@sub_lox loving the drums man and melody sound awesome, cant wait to hear the finished version with more intricate synths
@triphosphate love the intro/build up but i feel that the drop is "clipping" or your modulation you have on it is off tempo, keep it up though good job
@acidrat love the electro base. though it starts sounding boring after the 64th beat needs more changed up, big ups!
@gaol very interesting style stay with it, love the modulation of the vocal wobble and the melody synth in the background, drums are filled very nicely

Here's two of my latest clips, been working on production lately and almost have enough for another ep; let me know what you think

@Cthulhu Like the Reggae elements but the synths need more depth to them. If you're on Ableton, try multiband dynamics and use a saturator or compression.

@AcidRat Sounds like a good track and I like the bass synth. It definitely needs better mixdown though. The drums should be the biggest part od the track so work on them a lot. A trick I use is to put a sidechain compression linked to the kick and snare on everything. Also, learn how to stereo widen your cymbals and EQ everything. You're definitely on the right tracks.

@Triphosphate Really good song, nice structure and good synths. I really like the second drop. I don't know if it's my crappy speakers but it sounds like your drums are getting a little bit drowned out during the drop. Try sidechain compression if you've already EQ'd everything.

This is a electro house so forgive me but the feedback here is good. I think I'll be making more of this type of stuff in the future.

living tragedy- nice chords at the beginning, very commercial sounding, you could get a vocalist over this and itd sound a lot better imo. the drums sounds a bit dry and flat, they need more punch and character, same for some of your midrange sounds. overall decent track man :)

ctulhu- nice track man, sounds really like a grime instrumental, id get an mc over that if i were you.

gaol- the yoi sounds quite cheap, the melodies also a bit corny at the start. once you tone the yoi down and the beep sound comes in, the track as a whole sounds a lot better, id take out the yoi personally and not have a wobble in this track, itd make a great chill tune

heres my effort, its only a pisstake to wind my mate up who produces stuff like this here it is anyway

@Cthulhu The first one is really cool. I liked the sub a lot. The second one is definitely my favorite though. The vocals in it were good. I wish it was longer but it is a WIP.

@Living_Tragedy Im a big fan of complextro. That is a nice track. Its a really good start. Just add a second drop and it would be golden.

@Cheeky Haha I have a friend that produces hardstyle and I tried to make a hardstyle song just to piss him off. Your track is cool. I like the calv sound or whatever its called. The percussion is really chill and awesome.

I just kind of spilled this out into ableton when I was at school and i really liked it. So let me know what you guys think. Feedback would be cool.
