I don't hear anything special. A reese, Massive's bandpass bandreject and scream filters, pitch envelope.. and some of the usual post processing. What's so elusive about this in particular?

Please! Such an easy sound to make. I did it in audacity in probably 7 minutes. Just make as much conflict as you possibly can and then clip the sound very badly. Here's my version:
Soundcloud
I understand it's not exact, but its pretty dang close.

That's more like spor's bass than it is the chasing shadows, and JR, I'm sorry but that sounds nowhere near.

Soundcloud
closest I've ever come to chasing shadows signature reese. It's got similar movement and texture, but it isn't nearly as fat or powerful as theirs

Soundcloud
closest I've ever gotten to spor's "fart reese". Once again the texture is similar, but still not half as dense and weighty.

In the tune in the OP, the 'Chasing Shadows Bass' is just an overdriven version of 'Spors Bass' from the original tune. I thought we were talking about that. I don't know if you're thinking of the same sound, because from what I can tell, your attempts at the sound are going in an entirely different direction. Not trying to be offensive, I'm just confused at your post.

none taking. I was talking about the typical chasing shadows bass without really listening to this track in particular. But it sounds like from the OP's attempt that he's attempting the bass sound after spor's part, not the farty sound, which I was saying is less like yours and more like this

Either way. Nobody else has that sound, and it's absurd. If only they would go back to making stuff like this.

Is anyone actually going to share their methods/settings for getting these sounds?

Or is this just a dick waving contest on who can make what noises? :| .

as I said, do as much detuning/frequency conflict you can without making it atonal...then distort the crap out of it, clip it to a square.

It's not a dick waving contest... If somebody wants to know how I made my sounds, then I'll tell them. As far as the sounds specific to this song, I'm not really sure. As I said, the sounds I made are similar to the original song (as in not the chasing shadows remix) and the typical chasing shadows reese (once again, not the one in this song).

I'm well interested how you made this, let me know and i will have a go at getting the plugin chain to make it sound big and then share the results.I can make this type of reece but mine always sound a bit muddy.I want to know how you got yours to sound so clean.
What synth is it and how did you go about making the patch?
You post a tut or the patch i will bow down to you like your my king :D
Also wub i will post up what i done and how i went about it but cm has to share the patch or a tut on how he got there.

Ill post à more detailed description when I get home and can see the effects chain. But I started with a very simple 3 oscillator saw wave Reese in massive. The only effects I used in massive were some tube and dimension expander. The bulk of the work was done inside ni's kontakt, where I used the chorus, tube distortion saturation, and the movement comes from one of kontakts bandpass filters. No layering, and the only splitting I did was to hi-pass around 150 hz and then add my own sub. Ill see what I can do about a tut, but probably wont have time for a week or so. Anyways, more details to come.

I pretty much get where you will go with the tut anyway,i have gone the kontakt route before and it does sound good.

Wub is often inclined to think things are worse than is actual. I don't think anyone felt you were trying to wave your e-dick around. Don't worry.
