Wrist pain after production

Post by Attila » Tue Apr 17, 2012 3:44 am

So I've been having pretty irritating wrist pain after sessions recently. I have gel pads and all that good stuff, but does anyone have any tips or anything they do to help with it?

And please, try to refrain from masturbation jokes.

Proper ergonomics. Get a good chair and search for the right way to be sitting at your work station. Poor ergonomics and sitting in front of your computer for extended period of time will result in wrist, back, shoulder and neck pains.

And get it looked at by a doctor if it continues or gets worse, carpal tunnel is no joke.

Taking breaks helps too. I don't think humans are designed to sit in the same place all day. Im sure all the ergonomics stuff would help too but breaks are key. Ill sit down, produce for 50 minutes, then go make a sandwich.

Get some gel wrist rests for both your keyboard (proper computer keyboard, not MIDI controller) and your mouse ASAP!

I have these;

Cannot stress the importance of this - as Triphosphate has mentioned, carpal tunnel will fuck you up.

make sure your sitting at the right height for your arm and wrist to be flat on the desk, if you can feel the strain thats not good.

Take a month off. See a physician trained in A.R.T. (Active Release Techniques). Will take care of your carpal tunnel for sure.

If you wrist is hurting after a session, it's your body telling you something is wrong. Numbing it with pain will just mean you do it more damage.

It happens. I have suffered with chronic low back pain for at least a year as a result of hours of sitting in front of a computer (both at work and at home) combined with poor posture. Trying to get that fixed now. Like people already said, ergonomics and DEFINITELY taking periodic breaks to stretch and get some movement are key. :4:

These things are awesome. You can program the buttons to do what you want them to too. I have my bottom left and upper right for left and right clicking (thumb and ring fingers) and the upper left and lower right for nudging. It works awesomely for me, no need to my my wrist at all.
