no one is bashing on the content of the tune, just the poor mastering job
he's other tunes are perfectly mastered, im sure that this is what he was aiming for this time.
he's raising the bar....upgrading his game..........
what you thought that was wrong could now be right

That was your dodge. Ignoring everything I said but that. You know very well that the masses love brickwalled loud shit, yet you claim the reality is the opposite. You dodged this. And you also dodged my calling you out on worrying too much about what other people are doing.deadly habit wrote:you have yet to present a valid argument only a strawman which claims people are "hating" based on sales or contentjoshisrad wrote:Nice dodge.deadly habit wrote:so stick to your strawman argument about haters and let the grown ups talk about production related stuff on the production board
No offense, but I think you've set your goals pretty low. I've never heard of you, and from the looks of your soundcloud, neither has most anyone. Regardless of your goals, I don't give a fuck about what you accomplished; you are worrying too much about what other people doing and not pushing yourself hard enough on your own game. Ya little hater.so being a person who has charted in top 10 in beatport and accomplished most of the commercial and personal goals i set for myself in music is my criticism more valid now?
The majority of people bitching about the loudness war are producers. Jealous, hating, nothing-better-to-do, no-name producers. You can do whatever you want, you can get your tracks mastered however you want wherever you want. I don't care. Nor should you care what mister #1 on Beatport of the month does for mastering. Quit hating.as a consumer, producer, and dj it's not valid to say i know how to use a gain knob and that brickwall limiting sounds like shit? that i'd rather have a good master and not false loudness by squashing everything till the RMS meter is spiking?
Re: this should get some laughs
A gross misrepresentation of reality. Take your fallacies elsewhere.zeta wrote:Funny that you say that considering you were the one who started this argument in the first place by making presumptions about the OP's intention in posting this.joshisrad wrote:I think the reality is actually the oppositedeadly habit wrote:sorry my ears don't like smashed to hell mixes and brickwall limiting, neither do the vast majority of others
LOL dude, I know exactly where you are coming from. I've already seen the vids. I've already read up on the loudness war, and all the haters out there who think that music is "dying" because of it. At the end of the day, you're just another hater. I've said it before and I'll say it again:deadly habit wrote:a master isn't just a limiter on the main channel squashed to hell
google "metallica death magnetic loudness war" and you might understand
Worry less about what other people do, and focus on your own game.
Also, you're not just being presumptious, but you're being rude and irritating by trying to make yourself superior.
Condensed version:
OP: Hey guys look at this waveform
Others: Yeah it's been brick-walled and the mastering is pretty bad
joshisrad: Stop trying to be jealous and act like you're superior!
Basic A: We're not jealous, excision's a good producer, we're just talking about the mastering job
joshisrad: NO you're jealous
OP: It's nothing to do with the song but the mastering job
joshisrad: that's because you're jealous
(again in between hypocritical comments about "stepping up your own game" and "doing your own thing" which joshisrad clearly is better than everyone else at since he has time to go on here and grace us with his divine, master skrillex-wobbling, limiter-cranking presence and tell off respected forum producers)
Re: this should get some laughs
Not responding to anymore random people's shortsighted comments

But PEOPLE like it! It's number fuckin one on beatport. They've all been to so many concerts it doesn't even matter to them how their ears feel about it man.VirtualMark wrote:And whether you know it or not, your ears don't like a heavily limited tune.
YeeessssssI'm not even sure if excisions engineer is to blame, perhaps he wanted it made this loud? Maybe it works well on the dance floor?
Re: this should get some laughs
No. The kind of people who listen to dubstep are the kind of people who buy Beats. The ME wasn't mastering the tune for earbuds. What a ridiculous idea to even accuse him of that.deadly habit wrote:lot's of people listen to their music on youtube and shitty earbuds, it doesn't mean music should be mastered for them since they don't point out the problems with a brickwall that good pair of headphones or speakers willKochari wrote:He's right though, you & I may not like it but lots of people do
Re: this should get some laughs
hey dickhead. i'm not jealous. Not hating. Yeah I'm a producer. Of course producers are the ones who care about this issue. Non-producers don't know as much if anything about compression, dynamics, distortion, gain, etc.joshisrad wrote:The majority of people bitching about the loudness war are producers. If we fixed the misconceptions, we'd be capable of producing better sounding mixes. But we are forced to respond to the pressure so we aren't heard as "too quiet" by the ignorant listener who can't be arsed to turn it up (and shouldn't have to).
For the average consumer to notice the difference, you'd have to sit and A/B countless tracks across decades and demonstrate the loudness/dynamics tradeoff. But after having done that, they'd agree with the more knowledgeable producers that masters sound nicer when they aren't hard-limited.
Producers care about this issue because we don't like having to destroy our own hard work to make sure people will hear it. It's not about Excision or anyone else. This was a Loudness Wars thread in the production forum, and you mistook it for a "lets hate on brostep" thread in General, and decided to be a big tough guy whiteknight and protect your Bros.
Well fuck that, fuck them and fuck you too.
Re: this should get some laughs
So josh i'm taking it from this your an excision fan and also a fan of limiting?
Also a little angry and maybe a bit partial to a odd bit of online arguing?
All we need now is a 3 inch penis and a collection of stuffed animals and your pretty close to being the next Ted Bundy.

Well, considering this is the kind of place Excision normally plays, I'd argue his tunes are probably mastered for big systems, not "shitty earbuds", wouldn't you?

I'm not saying that tune is well mastered, just that's its daft to suggest his tunes are made for ipods.
My name is Dom and I like making ambientish music and drinking tea. Nice to meet you.
