Anyone here use this driver? Should I have used it from the start?

yeah id say its deffintly better, asio4all seems to need a higher buffer rate than full duplex.
Hind sight is a bitch though

Is it possible to use ctrl+c/ctrl+v or ctrl+click to duplicate notes or clips without duplicating the automation? What about the opposite? Hope I was clear.

You can duplicate the automation only by clicking on the little plus button on the bottom right of the channel when you have the desired automation visible. It will then put the automation onto a track under the one it is automating. You can copy/paste only the automation lines on that track there. likewise when the automation is separated onto a track below I believe you can copy/paste arrangement without the automation there. Hope this helps!

No, I think he was asking about the "lock envelopes" button (the one with the padlock symbol), located above the track names in the arrangement view. This button (depending on the state it's in) will help you either copy both notes and automation or copy them independently (duplicate notes without automation, if you want just automation, use the method OfficialDAPT described above) .

is there a way to like amplify a waveform if you're cutting up an audio file?
i know you can change the levels, but that's annoying, i want to just boost one file

yeah, each region can be set to its own level. Click on the audio clip and in the clip view down the bottom you have controls independent to the clip (including volume, pitch, envelops and more) as the pic below shows

I'm looking to creat similar sounds as found here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6wvWlqRTfs
For example: between 1:06-1:10, though it is used here and there throughout the entire song.
Also often found in J:Kenzo's and Kryptic Minds' work.
I have no idea where to start - can anyone give me some pointers maybe?

Making the switch to ableton, going to invest in suite edition which is a fair whack. What do you ableton heads reckon... Wait it out for 9 to be released or just get suite. My train of thought is it might not be cost effective to buy suite 8 for them to announce 9 and have to pay upgrade fees however much that'll be. Though 9 might still be a way off. If 9 is a total overhaul though as some of the net speculations have said then that increases my wariness of getting 8 suite now as it'd mean relearning a lot of freshly learnt stuff, though I'm doubtful they'd change so much sweet features/functions. Anyway I'm rambling, give me your opinions, i've dropped ableton an email too, though I doubt they have a price on 9 yet.
Can't believe I've not switched to ableton sooner, learning how it functions feels borderline relieving to me.

Yeah, ableton 9 hasn't even been announced yet. The talk is that they completely rewrote it so I should be fairly good as they have been working on it for 2+ years. Purely talking about ableton 8, the suite IMHO is not worth it. It has more features than live but they aren't very good. I don't use operator and sampler(only in the suite) because I use vst synths. Simpler(which comes with live) is just as good as sampler and since the live version is much less, just go with that. I'm not sure about upgrade prices because the Ableton team hasn't announced anything. I'm sure it will be cheaper to upgrade from the suite but by how much nobody know. MY FINAL OPINION: Just go with live 8 or wait it out until 9, the suite isn't worth it.

Sampler is much better than simpler, imo. Really waiting for 9 here. My home daw is integrating live playable features, now uses an apc, so I don't know if I'll be switch to ableton. I find almost everything in live to be a ballache. It is all about 9 bros, make or break time.

Was under the impression it had been announced.
That's all cool but for me the suite edition is going to be much more suited over live as I like the extra features, definitely want sampler and will be using operator indefinitely, I also use VST but have enjoyed operator equally when having a go with it. I was more after an opinion on whether to wait for 9 over just grabbing suite, but cheers.
Also have found the suite edition for £50 quid (or around that) more so not bad, just don't want to pay full whack, then 9 gets announced and the upgrade + suite is lots more than just getting 9. Bit of a guessing game, couldn't be too much more though, might eat my own words though upgrade fee could be big ...

Almost positive a date hasn't been announced, but I think the product in general has been announced if that's what you meant

For price reasons?
If it's not too long away I could wait, but tbh i'm keen to crack into it right away, but I don't mind jamming on lite, doing my reading and getting used to it for a while.

Perhaps buying live or suite, + the upgrade price might be equivalent of 9 on it's own, but who can say. Could be a long old wait though, perhaps they are just holding off until bitwig comes out.

they should probably release before bitwig so they sell more. kinda how xbox 360 released before ps3 and everyone got it so the ps3 sold less.
