Suggestions? Audio Interface for Logic

Post by LilWUB » Sat Apr 21, 2012 7:30 am

I'm looking for a firewire and midi compatible audio interface for Logic. Got any suggestions that aren't super expensive?

*Boring shit back story*

My homie suggested that I get OSX Lion for my Mac mini. I did this and now Pro Tools 7.4 isn't compatible. The crossgrade for PT is $400 and I'm kind of at a crossroad. Logic is attractive because it's awesome (supposedly), $199 and compatible with my Mbox 2 Pro. However, Mbox 2 Pro may not be compatible with Lion + Logic. I'm weighing the crossgrade of PT vs. Logic plus a new interface.

I'm real confused, scared, angry and horny right now. :i:

logic doesnt call for any special interface, its not pro tools so its practically irrelevant. i suggest the focusrite saffire 6 interface. its really good and its cheap. probably the best you can get for the money, highly recommended.

edit: oops you said firewire, this one is usb.

does your mbox work as a normal soundcard? if so that should work fine with logic. i recently bought logic in addition to reason and can't speak highly enough of it. pro tools is definately capable of making good stuff but it seems to be more popular amongst mastering/recording engineers. obviously it comes down to personal preference so if you can, give logic a try first.

have yet to work w/ an mbox that didn't turn to shit or just sound straight-up bad from the getgo, but YMMV.

FW interfaces i've used and recommend: apogee duet, motu ultralite mk3, metric halo uln 2, metric halo 8228, apogee symphony. the duet's a bargain.

I'm going to have to second that for a Focusrite Saffire 6. I have one and I love it.
