i ended up summoning people for the first few boss battles cus i was a pussy til i got to the moonlight butterfly/capra demon. Capra doesnt really give you a choice, he normally killed me before my summon got through the white light. Really satisfying to kill them solo though.
As a result of all that summoning and being human though I used to get wiped out by invading spirits. Did find it well annoying, til I managed to kill 2/3 of them in the depths when i was farming large titanite shards and now i kinda want it to happen.
Using a +10 halberd, wanted to start using some miracles but the covenant guy has ran off with his buddies
I have solo'd every boss in the game, I didn't know you had to be human to summon people up until about... 4 Kings and by that time I was like "if ive gone this far...".
Capra is incredibly easy if you get the war pick from the blacksmith near Darkroot Basin; at +5 (which is easy to get to before capra) it kills the dogs in one Right Trigger - Capra is weak against fire, so get the fire weapon buff from the merchant in the sewer short cut to Depth (can unlock before you go to Capra), so you just go up the stairs, swipe them both (1 RT will hit em both); jump down and then capra gets all dazed for a second - run back up half way, do a falling R bumper and rinse and repeat.
On my 2nd character and did him first time! The War Pick is essential purchase imo - most OP early game weapon for under 12 str.
The boss for the Depths and Blight town was my favourite parts of the game; dont know why everyone hates it?

Loaded my game up last night, stuck in the painted world by the boss, no humanity or souls. Proceeded to run straight off a cliff, get destroyed by a black knight, then managed to kill priscilla the crossbreed who'd caused me to quit playing before. Conquered Anal Londo and now trying to join the darkmoon's so I can get my arse handed to me by twinks using tranquil walk of peace. I love this game
Re: Dark Souls
I adore Pricillas boss soul weapon - it helped me complete my first game.

Re: Dark Souls
dunno whether to make the lifehunt scythe, I've got the shield that reduces bleed and can buy the ring to cut down on my bleed but if I take it to +14 it gets A dex scaling, or I could continue using my lightning claymore or make ornsteins spear. Spent last night invading the guilty for ears. Didn't suck absolute ass either which was surprisinglegend4ry wrote:I adore Pricillas boss soul weapon - it helped me complete my first game.
Re: Dark Souls
Its pretty dire in pvp but for bosses most of em go down in a couple of swings which is nice; I dunno if I like the pvp in dark souls that much, I was doing the forest invading for a bit which was pretty fun though.

Re: Dark Souls
I don't like the organised PVP, people using Tranquil Walk of peace get's boring, I like how at Sl54 I can get people who have sinned but aren't expecting an invasion. Doing it in sens fortress is like the epitome of bastadry. Placed the lordvessel a couple of days ago, should I go into the catacombs with my divine club or kill sif next?legend4ry wrote:Its pretty dire in pvp but for bosses most of em go down in a couple of swings which is nice; I dunno if I like the pvp in dark souls that much, I was doing the forest invading for a bit which was pretty fun though.

I just see a white box thanks to youtube being blocked but is that Dragons Dogma? Theres a demo on Live/PSN now.legend4ry wrote:Anyone wanting a game to tie you over till From Software do another action RPG should be looking at this; it looks brilliant.
Its a pretty awesome game also DS has trained me to walk cautiously everywhere with my sheild up in any game that you can
Is the extra stuff for the PC version going to be Free DLC or Paid DLC?
you dont need the club, just get a strong weapon and run like fuck. The skeles just endlessly respawn till you kill the head summon dudes lurking around and even then everytime you die or re-load the bastards come back!Blenky119 wrote:legend4ry wrote:should I go into the catacombs with my divine club or kill sif next?
Eventually it was easier to strip and run like fuck till you find the next campfire!
Re: Dark Souls
currently it's going to be no dlc, there's another petition to try get it on consoles but if namco bow to every petition about the game nothing will ever get done.Johnlenham wrote: Is the extra stuff for the PC version going to be Free DLC or Paid DLC?
With regards to the catacombs It's as easy to use the club, kills the skeletons quickly and keeps them dead so you don't get cheaped, I've already gone down to the second bonfire there doing that and got the ring to join the darkmoons but then some tnuc invaded and wrath of god'd me off a bridge.

Second bonfire, so can you port yet? as its not every far from there If memory serves. I had loads of trouble with Nitto compared to other bosses. No idea why.
Re: Dark Souls
I can't port down there, it's the hidden bonfire before the fog gate into the lower catacombs I got to, need to defeat pinwheel before I can get at Papa Nito. Figure once I get the bonfire before or after pinwheel it'll be warpable with the lordvessel. In the invaders defence I had spent half an hour being a dickhead and hiding in the great scythe room laughing as he kept walking past on the bridge above.Johnlenham wrote:That is the worst!Blenky119 wrote:currently it's going to be no dlc, there's another petition to try get it on consoles but if namco bow to every petition about the game nothing will ever get done.Johnlenham wrote: Is the extra stuff for the PC version going to be Free DLC or Paid DLC?

Haha ok so maybe it was justified!
Ah pinwheel is a pushover! the part after that is the hardest bit I found. Pitch black and holes bloody everywhere aswell as massive monsters and all sorts of shite! I think you get the lantern around there, that bit was instense for me haha

Re: Dark Souls
Yeah I just picked up the skull lantern in the previous area, going to do some darkmoon invasions there first though to get the run of the land, and also because it's easy pickings if people have the lantern out instead of a shield. Yeah I've read pinwheel is a piece of piss, I just wasn't sure whether to wait whilst i've killed sif before starting on the lords souls or just kill sif before I'm ready to venture into new londoJohnlenham wrote:Haha ok so maybe it was justified!

Re: Dark Souls
Sif is the wolf right? i retract my statment about skull guy, Sif was a MASSIVE pain the the ass for me.
If you are a magic guy you can do him over but as melee with a massive ass sword it was a huge pain. Took me well over twenty tries.
Might have to fire the game up again after all this talk! replaying after finishing it was abit easy as you have all the reflexes and knowledge but I havent touched it since I finished it back when it was new!

I'm melee/pyro, I had a go at him yesterday and managed to get him down to half health by rolling under his sword and cutting him in the legs but he pranged me as I was drinking Estus and killed me.
Should re roll a new character, you've got all of the knowledge so the opening areas aren't as much of a slog and you're not as tied to the babby's first pathway through undead burg and the like but enemies are back to not being nuisances you can kill in 1 hit but legit threats.

Re: Dark Souls
Sif is actually really easy, what you need to do is roll UNDER the sword blows until you're either close to his legs, or better yet, under his torso, because at that point he literally can't do shit to hurt you. Combine that with a weapon that does 300+ damage and he's basically dispatched within a couple of minutes at most, if not less.
Am I the only one that was disappointed by how much of a pushover the final boss was? I honestly found it more challenging to cut off Seath's tail for the moonlight sword without being cursed than that entire fight.
I loved this game, but it was too short/not really challenging enough, in retrospect. Not losing half your life when you die like in Demon's Souls was a bad decision on the developers' part, imo.
A word of advice to anyone who hasn't beaten it yet/may b struggling: don't put any points into strength or dex unless it's specifically to meet the requirements to equip some shit. The main stats you wanna pump are VIT and END. Obviously, if you're going for a mage character, then int. and attunement are what you need to raise, as well, but even then, keep in mind that you get diminishing returns (just like with strength or dex) as you keep leveling.

Having you tried doing a second playthrough? The difficulty shoots up through the roof again right when you start, Undead Burg will still murk you even if you know how to play correctly.svpreme wrote: I loved this game, but it was too short/not really challenging enough, in retrospect. Re: Dark Souls
The Catacombs are pretty easy, once you've unlocked everything you can run down to the next area (Tomb Of The Giants) in about 2-3 minutes and the only Enemies which are hard are the pinwheel skeletons (which i'm sure you've seen if you've done Painted World).
The end boss on Tomb Of The Giants is probably THE hardest boss unless you're pyro or magic heavy.
Sif took me a couple of tries; its all about hitting the same paw and he stumbles (very cutely, I must say!) around a bit at around 50% health and its just a huge slash spam till he dies.
You're at the point now (if you're getting the final 3 souls) where you can do things like....Kill the hydra near Havel's door, Great Hollow > Ash Lake (the prettiest place in the game, and the only place which has music :O!!) and just stuff like that which isn't 'needed' to complete it if you haven't done it all already.
4Kings are one of the hardest bosses, if you haven't got iron flesh - get it; its essential! Same with Nito (iron flesh).

Yeahh that was a right fucker. I think you should definitely look up a guide or video for that one to see what the best strategies are and stick to them.legend4ry wrote: The end boss on Tomb Of The Giants is probably THE hardest boss unless you're pyro or magic heavy.

Yeah, I'm up to Gwyn for the second time with one of my characters, it definitely does become a bit more challenging, but meh, I dunno, maybe it's just because I've played the game so much.collige wrote: Having you tried doing a second playthrough? Great game, though, regardless.
