Feedback on some bass patches?

Post by djaeke » Sun Apr 29, 2012 9:56 pm

I made 5 bass patches I made from scratch in Massive in about a half hour, here's a demo of them:

Soundcloud

The first 5 are dry, then the same 5 with some distortion and saturation. And I know that they don't have any sub, but all my patches are LP'd at 100Hz-150Hz so I have room for a sine wave sub.

Any feedback? Anything I could do with them to make them better? If there are any external effects you'd suggest I use, I use Ableton, so all those effects are available to me

EDIT: Forgot to actually add the soundcloud embed :P

0.55 that patch is nice, very solid sounding and would have a really nice wobble to play around with

1.09 very nice as well. IMHO I'd use 1.09 as a start to a drop. I'd lower it a an octive or two it'd be a nice growl do a half a bar of that at the very most and then I'd use the patch at 0.55 for wobbles after it. if that helps ya in any way haha

~1.28 or so things start getting messy sounding with the start of that almost Reese sounding patch

Sounds like some of them might be clipping?

Feeling the last one (2:04) for sure. Now make a rude snare to match it and you're on your way.

Third ones probably my fave of the lot,

the first one after processing is sounding aggressive but a tad harsh so maybe go a lil easier in the high end :W:
