The thing seems more like a newsletter as soon they have it available online, not a real reservation or pre-order. So it highly depends on when they send the mail, if I'm occupied or asleep :)

Nah, in your account window they said they will keep it for you as soon as they get the boxes.

I don't think the CD version is limited edition.

Out to those that gave info on the letter to Clara. It's an amazing peice of writing, the kind of thing I could go back to again and again.

As for the CD edition, there is a limited edition box set version, and a non-limited gatefold version.

If there is one thing that Shackleton knows what to do it is keep people guessing. Fabric 55 was a masterpiece. A flawless progression through past and present material. He steered clear of Skull Disco material, because he knows people know it, and it doesnt need a second CD release. That shit is untouchable. Concentrated on post Skull material, 3 EPs, Honest Jons and other bits that are still unreleased, namely "Come Up" and "Closeness To Nature". The whole album was mixed in the style he does his live show, all his own productions tweaked on the fly making a truly live performance. For people who have not seen him live, it is amazing. One man and his laptop. He. Brings. The. Dance. He'll run a solid 5 minute percussion orchestra with zero subbass. You think you're locked into his rhythm. Dont you? You are totally vibing on his groove, right? He adds a bassline. The music has entirely new dimension. What the FUCK?? He's adding a vocal? What is this? Who sung this? You will never fucking know. That conga / bongo / tabla thing is epic!! Listen to the way its playing its own time signature. Jesus, now he's adding a delay to that hi-hat I didnt even realise was there!! Now its gone back to playing straight 8ths, but there's some weird synth in there now. Damn this shit is mellow. Fuck off man, this is BANGING!! Holy shit that bassline is savage. My god this is hypnotic. I honestly feel like im on drugs. I might go get a drink. Naa this shit is too awesome, ill go after this song. How long has this song been going for? Who cares, this is dope.

He's done an entire album with Pinch. PINCH!!

I just put on Music For The Quiet Hour. I bought the download after reserving the vinyl and cd at my local. Im just about to reach the end of Part 2 and one this is clear. This package of music can be listened to probably forever and you will never ever in all that time unlock everything he is doing. He is a master of sound manipulation. There is no verse-chorus-verse-chorus or drop-breakdown-drop-end structure to whatever i'm enjoying right now. There's almost no chance I can play this to anybody who hasnt come across it by themselves and get them to appreciate it anywhere near as much as I do. The sounds are too disarming. You cant say "check out this shit...the bongo rhythm dude!". They'll hear some whack cut-up vocal thats playing and be turned off instantly. This is music for people who are in for the long haul. For a truly immersive experience. Headphones (and he know's it too. Its called Music For The Quiet Hour for christ sakes). If you can drop it in a set then power to you. I know i'm going to try (i just heard 4mins18sec in Part 3...holyfuckingshit).

Practically everyone who asks me what music im listening to lately I say Shackleton because more people should know about what he's doing. Nobody makes shit like this. His music is structureless (any Sunn O))) fans in here? anyone?) and it is the most welcome change in the world to listen to music and have absolutely no fucking clue whats coming next.

Im going to be spending the rest of the year listening to this. Im not sure there's anything that will excite me this much again this year. Album of the year. Im calling it, and if it doesnt get it who cares, Shack sure doesnt. Its going to be a while before we see any more releases from him for sure, cuz we need some time to digest what he just laid in our laps.
