Re: Its finally bloody happening!!
Ah I get you now, your coming at it from a producers point of view. Producers who put out vinyl releases but don't involve themselves with the vinyl culture, I see! Congrats anyway. I play drums if you ever need a drummer, tho I'm based north of the Thameslegend4ry wrote:Thats totally not what I said i'll explain further..
".......who don't even own a single vinyl, let alone a turn table" means, vinyl is amazing to collect, even if you have nothing to play it on I embrace that! (the smell :O)
What I mean is...
A vinyl release and a digital release hold exactly the same amount of weight if the tunes are quality in this day n age - FACT!
So, if you DJ out digitally, buy your music digitally and are part of that whole scene while having absolutely no interest in vinyl other than to get your tunes on it then its a bit contradictory, shouldn't you be releasing on the medium you support?
I hate the idea of producers who are not a part of the vinyl culture, like people who have never stepped foot in a record shop, even knew what a vinyl was until people started taking about it on forums getting signed/put out on vinyl. Its just one of my pet-peeves, vinyl costs a lot to produce so if you don't even own a single vinyl, making a label fork out grands worth of money for your release just because it'll be on vinyl and that equates to being a " big producer" these days is just arrogant and self-righteous. There is nothing wrong with not being a vinyl DJ but just appreciating it, collecting it and maybe have a little record player at home you whack on once in a while when you want a quiet night in doors listening to music and still putting out wax because those people have respect for the medium, culture and most important money, time and effort labels go through to put it out.

May take you up on that! I have a studio with a nice kit in it and a lovely array of mics which I can use for free as long as its a odd-hour session!

Ah sound well I'm always up for a sesh / jam type thing. Have an acoustic kit (Maple Ludwig, OCDP snare, Sabian cymbals) and a Roland electronic kit (all mesh heads) which I use most. Got a nice SE tube mic which sounds great when used as a MS overhead with other mics.legend4ry wrote:May take you up on that! Doubt i'm going to making EDM so probably just start composing under my actual name and see how that goes. About time I stopped pretending music is a viable way to live your life and finally build a career instead of working 'whatever' jobs to make ends meet.

Lots of people make a good living from music, just sayinglegend4ry wrote:Time to stop being an ambitious hobbyist and just be a hobbyist. I'm sure its a lesson we all learn eventually - luckily I learned it at 22 and not 42 though.

Re: Its finally bloody happening!!
Ive never had to drive to be 'paid' by music. So i guess I skipped that hurdle early on.
