okay, this problem has me so fucking frustrated its crazy. I have a bass line in clips of 8 bars. When i go through and listen to it, once i reach a certain clip, it changes the pitch of all the previous notes in the midi track. So that when i go back to a bassline who's root hit hits around 40hz, it then plays 28ish hz. THE FUCK? No i didnt change the midi notes, however my prime suspect is pitch envelopes, they seem to fuck things up. im just really pissed off, and i did a horrible job describing the problem. If anyone understands me/has had this problem in the past, please help!

It sounds like it is a pitch envelope. Have you altered any envelopes in the clips. If so set them back to flat. Problem solved.

it does sound like a pitch envelope problem, and i already did this step unfortunately :/, no fix. It's really random, which is what is so frustrating.Theo Void wrote:It sounds like it is a pitch envelope. Have you altered any envelopes in the clips. If so set them back to flat. Problem solved.

If you have any pitch modulation in the envelope on one clip you should make nodes at the zero point at the beginning and end of all the clips in that track. The reason that it is changing pitch is, because lets say you ramp the pitch up and have a node at + 8020(something) or +100 i forget the number then the modulation of the pitch will follow that curve, the clip will end and there has been no node to direct the pitch back to 0. So the next clip (if it doesn't have a node at the beginning) will play at that + 100 pitch, until it reaches another node. You have to tell the pitch to go back to the zero point. It took me 4ever to figure that out, because it was really bothering me too! I have just made a habit to go into the first clip i make on a track and put nodes on the zero point at the beginning and end (select the whole clip, inside piano roll, drag the pitch envelope line up, and then delete the top 2 nodes, and theres your zeros at the beginning and end. Then if I want to change midi around i just duplicate that clip and I don't have to do that for every clip.) I really hope that made sense, hope this solves it.

try freeze/flattening the channel you're having problems with. Also try duplicating the channel and see if it has the same problem on other channels.
If all else fails it's either some automation you got going on. Or a conflict with one of the plugins you're using. Check all you third party plugins to see if they may be causing this.
Best of luck

Im thinking its a pitch envelope but also, what vat/synth are u using for the track. Save the patch and throw a different synth on the MIDI track. This will tell u if its the synth or if the problem is in the clip itself
Re: GOD FUCKING DAMNIT (Experienced Ableton users please hel
yup, what ill said. used to happen all the time to me. now if i have any pitch wheel happening at all, i always start clips with a node at the beginning by default.

It's the pitch envelope. When Live reaches the end of the loop, if you haven't set points in the beginning of the clip, then the automation transfers, because there is no point giving it information that it needs to reset the pitch.

Yeah i've had this problem too. It has something to do with the pitch envelopes. Freezing the track after you alter the pitch envelope of a MIDI clip will help but it's kind of a hassle.Immerse wrote:lets begin with![]()

the default pitch env is what's doing it. as in, the pitch automation in the clip settings (not the pitch env of the synth).
you cracked ableton.
get a newer version.
