Really sorry to hear that, mental health & suicide or attempted in this case is one of the most difficult things to deal with if your in some way connected with the person its one of the most difficult things to pull through and takes alot of mental strength hope everything goes ok and he gets help, just stay strong and hope for the best, ive had to deal with nothing in comparrision to this mainly a close friend who had a few failed attempts and i know how it can effect you in every way, best thing is to stay strong and be thankful that he's ok and he will get helpvishes wrote:One of my close friends told me a seriously fucked up story the other day.
Apparently his girlfriend's dad has been mentally ill for the past year or so, which wasn't anything real serious - my mate had never actually noticed anything weird about him when he was around - , but his girlfriend would occasionally tell him things about what her father had done. Stuff like forgetting where or who he was, things like that.
However, sometime last week my mate got a phonecall from his girl saying that her dad had committed suicide that day...
She said she already noticed that something was up when she left the house at 1 in the afternoon to go to work, because her dad had parked the car in front of the house which he never did cos they had a garage. And then about 4 hours later, at around 5pm, she got a phone call from her mum saying that her dad's shrink, who usually visited him at home once a week to talk about his issues, had found him laying in a pool of blood in his garage.
When the police had investigated the whole thing they told them that he had apparently walked into the garage, picked up a big serrated knife and stabbed himself in the stomach 17 times and then slit his wrists. After he had done this, judging by the bloodtrails inside the house and the half-burned cigarette, he went back inside the house, went upstairs, grabbed himself a cigarette, lighted it and went back to the garage where he then was found by the shrink, unconsious, laying on the floor in a pool of his own blood...
The police said they had never seen anything like this before.
He's currently in the hospital, still alive (!) and will probably be ok. Apparently he was lucky enough to not hit any organs or arteries when he stabbed himself.
When he came to in the hospital he said to his family that he just wanted to die, he just didn't want to live anymore.
When my mate told me this I really couldn't believe it, I mean, you hear or read about things like this on the tv or internet or whatever, but you just don't expect it to happen to someone this close to you.
It's just real sad, I can't imagine their lives ever being the same after all this. They're also going to move house now and it's not sure if he can move back in with them again.
And when you think about it, what the hell was going through this guy's head that made him do such a gruesome thing to himself? I don't think you could ever imagine what he was thinking or how he was feeling at that time.
The doctors said that he probably went into a psychosis or something, because otherwise you would never be able to harm yourself in such a way as he did.
I really hope that he'll never try to do it again, but you'll never know I guess.
