My girlfriend went out with her shit friend. She said they were gonna grab some drinks, eat some food and then she'd be headed back here.
That was at 8pm. At 11:45pm I thought I'd check up just to do it. No answer, but I'm not one of those paranoid, over-controlling dudes and we've been together for years now, so I figured she'd get back to me when she could; maybe she didn't hear her phone, maybe she sat it down for a min.
1:00am -- another call, and no answer.
I started to get a little worried around 2am, so I rang her friend. No answer.
At 3am, her friend calls back to tell me that my girl got shitfaced and her friend lost her while they were downtown. No ID, no phone, and no money.
She is very small and wondering aimlessly in this city's shit-hole of a downtown at 4am.

I'm sure she'll be fine and it could have some humor to it if there wasn't the danger of rape or abduction looming over the situation. I'm just pissed that she managed to be so fucking irresponsible on multiple levels. I shouldn't have to worry about her like I would a little girl. She could have at least let me know that she was going downtown so that I could have had a rough location.

As I got done typing this, they found her. She had walked miles back to her friends house. Un-raped, thankfully. Her feet hurt, and she deserves it. I told her I loved her and that I'd bitch at her in the morning after we both got some sleep. Bed to myself tonight. Sorry for having typed all this, but it's getting posted now, regardless.

You realize you`re being a tad controlling?
If she wants to go out and get wasted it is her choice.
Would you want her to be upset with you if you went out and got hammered?

A tad maybe, but I don't really care about her going out to get hammered. That's standard, and not what I'm on about. I'm just a little irritated that she put herself in a very compromising situation by not having her id, wallet, or phone all while wondering off alone far from the clubs into very shady/dangerous parts of the city. Even if she had zero communication, it would have been way better if she just stuck with her friend. It was her choice, but a bad one.

I know the shit happens, and I'm not in some rage about it... but I'm not happy about it either.

I`ve just learned that allowing your partner their space is incredibly important.
Even if she makes the shittest decisions, they are still hers to make.
Life lessons can not be taught, they have to be experienced.
