At what point does (most of) society believe that in order to have a good night, you have to get drunk/take drugs?
Yes, drugs have certainly enhanced my evenings out and made things that little bit more fun, but I know I don't need them to have a good night. I've done quite a few nights sober and still had a fantastic evening just being surrounded by friends and music.
We go from dancing round at school discos without a care what we look like or how we're dancing, to downing 8 pints before we can hit the dancefloor - just because we're self conscious.
I know this doesn't apply to all; most of my friends will dance just because. It seems that's the way things go for most people though, and it's really quite sad.
With that I'm going to take myself back to 1997, Saint Ethelbert's primary school disco.
