I don't like DJ culture in general. I mean, I DJ and I love doing it, but I'm always reminded of this old jungle doc where they interviewed DJ Rap or something and.. she was saying 'no mattuh 'ow gud it is, if the DJ don't play the reccid it's never gonna be heard'. And I'm like.. who gives the DJ that sort of authority?

I love DJ'ing and DJs do some interesting stuff and can contribute to the scene, but 99.99% of them are replacable middlemen.

to this day i still don't understand the BPM obsession, especially when someone says "It's 138 bpm not 140 you shitass". Even if the BPM in your audio magic music workstation was set at 220, you could could make a tune that would fit in the 140 box. I get that DJ's need to know it for their syncing or whatever DJ's do, but that seems like hocus to me.

yeah bpm has become stifling but that's i guess the necessary tension where peoples start to work against that and something new gets created and progress gets made. shit needs to get boring before people will wanna do something different.

for me the biggest diffo is between broken & 4x4 beats. i think the latter are a bit self limiting but it's just a preference really

YES YES. This total obsession with getting it exact to the last digit. It took me a long time to figure out how exact people were when they actually said that 'dubstep is in 140'

jsml speaking sense in this thread.

Scamp is still one of the heaviest DJs out there, his own tunes are pretty unique too, halftime badman.

The latest King Yoof release is bang on the button + Dj Golds aka Lionfire's output is amazing both his 175 jungle on dread recs and the 140 stuff on sub slayers

Soundcloud

been following this style for sometime now and even the number 1 jungle station Koollondon.com have a sub slayers show showcasing this new future jungle music, i do agree alot of artists are jumping on the bandwagon but also when you hear Djs like toddla t,shy fx, bryan g, Billy bunter, Subscape, Caspa, Skream all dropping the odd future jungle tune then it seems to be turning some heads and alot of people are talking about it.
how low can you go.

The other day I saw people talking about 'future house', 'future minimal techno', shit like that as if they have created some totally new genre. Just because you are one of the first to add 'future' to an already present genre doesn't mean it's any newer or better, why not just leave it as it is instead of making things more confusing? Sub genres as a whole annoy me. Forget trying to label everything, if people like it they will listen to it

who is gonna search for fucking future house or future jungle though? lol, I agree having a genre listed would help, but whats wrong with just calling it jungle, if people search jungle they will find it, if some one happens to search future jungle (lol) then they will find it too

The problem you have is a lot of "Future Jungle" is far more Breaks than Jungle its actually quite Bastardised genre than borders Dubstep/Breaks/Dnb/Jungle if im honest i dont LOVE the term either but its sticking and i know fact that people are searcing for it. The Future Jungle Blog is getting around 7000 Visits a month from someone now obviosly it aint you but just because you dont think something is happening it doesnt mean it isn't and if you ask anyone involved around the scence theyll tell you things are getting bigger by the week ,so scorn and mock all you like it , its happening and the name may change(which i care not about) but the style is growing :z:

what is this dj fresh future jungle horseshit? judging from those tracks it sounds like he barely knows what jungle is.
as stated previously any future jungle that might exist is in ragga jungle, ragga core, breakcore etc.

big up jungle syndicate who do absolutely sick parties (often free) at rhythm factory. also the bangface crew who get some real jungle/hardcore/breakcore raves going!

I haven't listened to it yet, but "future jungle" sounds like a load of horse shit.
