Hazard confirms he's playing for Manchester next season after winning the POTY award in France. He didn't say City or United tho. Future is looking bright for our national squad!:)

It's a shame, the only thing that could've made an already great season even better would've been if Villa had been relegated.
Not because I have anything against Villa, but the only Villa fan I know is such a tnuc it's untrue.

All Liverpool, I'm not one of those fans that actively want England to do poorly I'm just not invested in international football. I want Liverpool players to do well, who ever they play for and I enjoy the spectacle of international tournaments, I'm just not predisposed to a winner more wanting the football to prevail.magma wrote: I've never really understood this. Do you follow England or is it all Liverpool for you?
I also get that's in stark contrast to my position with my club that the result is more important than the manner of the victory. It's because I don't support any international team that I can focus on the football rather than the result.
Re: The SNH Football thread
one reason why i despise a lot of clubs fans and their shite mentality. Your not our rivals your just another team we play who will never have any significant competition with us. To celebrate the goal your opponents have just scored against you that have lost you the game? Fucking cretins the lot of em.hutyluty wrote:qpr fans reaction lol

Same for me. I find it hard to make the switch to getting behind a team full of players that I (for the most part) hate every other day of the year. Whether that's right or wrong, I don't know or care, and if there was a set of more likeable players playing, I'd follow them. Just not this team full of pricks.scspkr99 wrote: I'm just not invested in international football.

I think I get more stressed during International tournaments than I ever do with Arsenal. Despite "supporting" Arsenal way before I'd ever seen England play, watching the odd match and idolising Alan Smith and Kevin Campbell, the thing that really got me into football was the 1990 World Cup. As an 8 year old, I was in floods when Waddle missed that penalty. As a 20 year old, I hugged strangers and then cried in front of my girlfriend's Dad in the crowd at Glastonbury watching England Vs Portugal in 2002.
ONE DAY we'll win the fucker and it'll be better than 10 Arsenal Premierships on the trot. And bollocks to all of you if you think you won't be partying in the streets with everyone else. The place'll go fucking MENTAL... you'll be singing "England Til I Die" and smashing up the German Embassy with all the EDL meatheads just like the rest of us.

First tournament I remember was Euro 96, absolutely loved it, same for all the tournaments up until about World Cup 2006, and then the unbearable hype and the realisation that the same set of wankers, racists and thugs were going to be picked until they died set in, and I just can't be arsed. I enjoyed the last Euros more because England WEREN'T in it. If we get a manager that will actually pick on form, rather than the same "lads" that could've booked their flights to Poland 4 years ago, I'd gain a bit of interest.
Re: The SNH Football thread
I'm older and the first World Cup I can remember is Argentina 1978. Scotland made it England didn't, as kids then we weren't going to let Englands absence stop us enjoying it and gangs of kids were singing we're on the march with Ally's army. Can you imagine that now. By the 80's Liverpools Scottish contingent were more important than the English players.
I've definitely mellowed. I've thought at times that proper club fans are too invested for international football to matter that much and I've always considered the mad random Bournemouth and Swindon flags indicative of an England support who's demographic was the lesser teams unlikely to secure any real glory for themselves. I now think that's largely bullshit. I still think there's a pretty significant section of club supporters that think as I do though.

Hertha BSC Berlin steps down, Fortuna Düsseldorf steps up into 1. Bundesliga
Re: The SNH Football thread
Im normally getting pretty hyped for international tornaments by now but until today the Euros hadn't even crossed my mind.
Dont know if its just because i expect England to go out in the groups or because its been such a stressful premiership season...
I find it hard to support a team with Rooney and Terry
