i'd agree on nu rave... ol'sounds in branded nu cloths :u:

however in terms of a charactaristic sound - or mabe rather the specific treatment/use of a 'wrong' sound - the wobble and the acidlines of the 303 might still have sth in common, i think. actually, my flatmate was joking yesterday, that in 5 years i'd be producing acid-techno - and she was obviously refering to a wobble that i was adjusting... :oops:

:lol:

just a thought...

It's not possible to be interesting on here as any discussion gets met with brainless responses!

Anyway,

Halfstep = the new amen
Ragga samples = the new rave piano chords
FWD = the new Sidewinder (Predictable and boring)
Dubstep = The new clownstep

Where has the innovation gone? There are cries of anger at a dubstep sample CD being released (people say that dubstep's all about expression, individuality etc..) but THE reason a dubstep sample CD has been released is that most the big names are constantly referring to their earlier pieces with no progression so the sample CD compilers can easy pick a few cliches out of the Rinse FM DJ sets and throw them together to make a sample pack. Can you imagine anyone even having an idea where to start with a 'dubstep' sample pack back in the day that no one even knew how to dance to it?

Even people trying to be individual are looking to the past all the time 'dubstep with a techno edge' or 'dubstep with a 2step beat', no one is trying to do something new just rehashing ideas, this makes for okay music but not an innovative, exciting or lively scene.

Dubstep is dead, long live sound!

i agree with you in part SideSteppa but this doesn't even mean anything:
SideSteppa wrote:Halfstep = the new amen
Ragga samples = the new rave piano chords
FWD = the new Sidewinder (Predictable and boring)
Dubstep = The new clownstep
you could just as easily say:

Halfstep = the new bread
Ragga samples = the new butter

It was a comment on how genres always stagnate with cliches. I was keeping in sync with the title of this thread, maybe partly humourously!

@ Jubz...what is so wrong with having a beard?? I proudly sport one, and particularly enjoy stroking it!! Just because I have an opinion does not make me some kind of geeky snob or someone who just theorises. You sound as if you have an inferiority complex and have to make some stupid remark whenever anyone posts something slightly different to your 3 word comfort zone.

Being street does not = being stupid!
