Not the best comparison if you're arguing against his obvious hipsterisms haha
Well what I was trying to say was, yes there is a degree of hipsterism to be found in his reviews but I figured he was doing it as a sort of irony, not like pitchfork and the likes who think they're the best things since sliced bread, their review seem more important than the music.

Bong-Ra's Monolith was pretty disappointing. First 4 songs are pretty much shit. The other 4 are good, especially Artificial Flesh. Definitely recommending that tune.

On another note, Burzum's Umskiptar album is pretty sick.
I've only heard a few tracks off RIP. A couple of which were ridiculously boring. Heard a couple big tunes though. Can't be bothered to look up the names atm. Might have to check the whole album seeing as House is going mental over.

Mosca EP is going to be killer.

Yup as I said, some of the tracks are quite monotonous (perhaps to some in a boring way), some don't offer up much in the width (like only a few elements, minimal in a way) and again, completely understand if that ain't your thing from Actress (as ultraspatial rightly said, some of his EP's certainly are more dense and lengthy, heavy digestible material).

But to claim this album is a bunch of unfinished tracks without idea's is wrong. It's even a concept album that tells a story apparently if you read some of the interviews and how the album came to be. Not that interested in that matter myself, but I can clearly see a connecting theme, an idea brought to fruitition within the album. And yes, 5-6 tracks really stand head and shoulders above the rest of the album. But I like the quieter more restraint moments too, it's all in balance. Of course, opinions vary.

After repeated listens I must confess I'm also a bit underwhelmed by the new JKFlesh, I perhaps was expecting something a little more sonically challenging (like greymachine). And the vocals are childish at times. Some good beats though.

Acteress Rip is an ok album, caves of paradise is the best track by far.

Vedomir - Vedomir

Not been listening to too much 140 recently, so took a chance with this album. Really nice piece of work. Forks, Knives, and Spoons is so... cool.

The new Lorn is sounding ok. Bit darker than most of his compatriots as usual. Not cast a final judgement yet.

I've been checking out some of these recommendations that I didn't purchase myself over the weekend through youtube/soundcloud/whatever.

Beach House - Bloom :
This really is getting good reviews everywhere. I have to say I'm not that overwhelmed by it. Then again, dream pop (if you wan't to call it that) was never my cup of tea: I mostly prefer weightier shoegaze acts, acts that require just that little bit more effort to get into. I did enjoy some of the poppy melodies on this album: "Lazuli" and "The Hours" are two tracks I thoroughly enjoy. But most of the time I don't get dragged into the tracks as much as I'd like to. And the tracks that did grab my attention are over lengthy and even too complex for my liking, pop should be more simpler (never thought that would come out of the mouth of a hipster did you!!). I recognise the qualities and musicianship in this album though. The vocals are solid. It's good but not great for me.

Nedry - In a Dim Light :
Wow, this was dissapointing for me. Didn't like the vocals, and one track is basicly a complete rip off a Kryptic Minds track with some added vocals and piano's. Surely that was a bit lazy. Some of the tracks work better than others (some have really good percussion, live?). It's not a complete disaster: there's some good idea's at work. But the beats were disapointing. Not for me.

Recondite - Acid Test :
Though I was expecting more hardcore acid vibes, this actually became a very pleasant listen after my original disappointment/surprise faded : +1

Will be checking some more of those out!

My final thoughts on the Lorn album: It's better than the first one: there is clear progression and three tunes or so are really speaking to me (Everything is Violence for example). But all in all, form e it perhaps underachieves a bit to really be a contender this year. Also, the new album on Fifty Weapons by Phon.O is shaping up great: get's off to a slow start but then get's a good garage vibe going (a bit Burial-esque <=HIPSTERTALK) in the second half with some damn good melody and beats. I suspect this could be a grower: strong label.
