Lets be honest though, egypt and the rest of the middle east were fucked long before france and britain 'meddled' with them.

Assad wants shit to go down in Egypt. Syria is only important because tv says so. Most westerners can't identify with Syria. But Egypt dude.... Did you see optimus prime fuck shit up on the pyramids n shit. And like Megan fox ran around all hot n sweaty. And bro mummy's are Egyptian and like Indiana jones he hates snakes.

Our people are dumb like that. It's why we cared about egypts revolution and not the had that actually started the Arab spring

No offense dude, but although you may have made a somewhat correct prediction on what is going to happen in the run up to the election, to say that Iran and Syria have/are controlling the Muslim Brotherhood is just ludicrous and demonstrates you don't really understand the religious situation of the middle east at all which makes your entire post moot. I don't even think you know what Sharia law is, neither of these countries have instituted Sharia law. What a stupid thread. You might as well be saying 'Saddam did 9/11'.

I've been watching some movies and documentaries about various issues over there...

and honestly - I just don't know...

they have a lot of internal issues that go way beyond anything westerners and progress have imposed...

prejudiceses - rampant egoism - stuborn vindictiveness

I really hope the kids can make their way and shed all that...

I'm just wishing them well...

Where as Britain has always been the glorious example of how morality and equality can reign supreme that it is today.

yes, this all goes well back ... britain & france were meddling/colonizing in the middle east before the USA took over that role.
150% . The history of the Suez Canal and nearly all of its post-colonial problems starts during Victorian/Edwardian era Empire mongering. Its no fucking secret that England's Armed occupation of Egypt was to enable trade routes from the raj in South Asia, and more obviously the fastest oil deliveries from the Gulf to fuel English homes, industries and its navy. Thats not even bringing up the side issue that inside the British Museum lies one of the biggest pillages of Egyptian antiquity outside of Egypt. Entire Temples were lifted stone by stone and brought to London. The British Museum is so worried about its collection in terms of post-colonial public thinking, that it never allows more than 10% of it to be displayed in the Museum at any time, for fear it might stir up controversy. This is not to mention that the museum has made nearly 100 yrs worth of publications, entrance fees and other products off of the back of this pillaging, and has barely compensated the Egyptian govt in return.

It was a joke to see the current English parliament during the arab spring time, just tip-toe around the Egypt situation. England's got a long history of blindness to post-colonialism.

My primary problem with the MB is that they don't recognize gender equality. Trying to fight the entire scope of their cause is just silly. These are people that don't want to discuss or choose diplomatic solutions. They don't want conformity or adaptability. They've had it. Ever since the 80's there's been more and more radical extremists, flying broad anti-western rhetoric, all over the planet. Its not something our generation has to face in the future. Its something the entire planet will face monthly. The abandonment of grey area geo-political thinking, for the polar black & white world of opposition politics. Its already happening in the UK and US. We're extreme just like they are, but we wave "democracy" flags when we kick down doors...

....and in their defense - and I say this in light of the incredible imperialistic/colonial messes that I am aware of...

I trust the British Museum...

This is one of the films I have watched...

Kultron is unfortunately spot on about this thread.
You need to get a more nuanced idea on what goes on in Iran.

What do you think this means and what do you think the relevance is? Do you blame the now defunct USSR or USA for the Taliban?
pkay wrote: The US's main interest in Egypt has namely been safe tourism and keeping shit peaceful with Egypt and Israel.
Tourism? Seriously. Israel I'll grant you and there's been enough from Muhbarak to suggest he's a friend of the west, hence the support he received and the lateness at which the US advised he should go but tourism?
pkay wrote: Iran/Syria/MBROS all want Sharia Law under the guise of democracy. This would exist even of we did not.
Who are you talking about? The whole of Iran/Syria? If so and that's what they want then what's the problem? It isn't and they don't but you're talking like these countries or this area are some homogenous mass and that's not the case.
pkay wrote: Anywho the significance of Egypt going more hardliner Muslim is it will likely kick off another Arab Israeli war. A moderate Egypt has kept shit cool for 30+ years..
Am not sure more hardline necessarily translates to another Arab Israeli war, I'd argue after 1974 there hasn't been the display for war with Israel. Also how do you account for the lack of Islamic parties in the conflicts between Egypt and Israel prior to and including 1973. It's a lazy argument that misrepresents the issues with the sate of Isreal and reduces them to merely Muslim and Jew. This is not the case.
pkay wrote: Read up on the multiple Arab Israeli wars and how it changes the shape and structure of the middle east. Whether you agree with the result, that is likely the future if Egypt becomes more hardline.

Regardless what flag you waive and who you support if you're a peace loving person the Muslim brotherhood leading Egypt does not positively aid peace in any shape form or fashion
We can probably start by not telling the rest of the world what they need
