Re: music players and computers....
Yes, I'm not saying they don't make quality. But I do believe they overcharge their worth. And I don't think Macs look "nicer" at all. And the company themselves always claim the extra price is because it is stylish, fashionable and more user friendly. I don't know about that.
Mac OS is usually more stable than Windows, but that's only if you're a tard that makes his own bed as well.

Re: music players and computers....
Since this is turning into Mac v Windows thread, I'll add my experience.
I grew up with Macs, last Mac I had was an iMac about five years ago. No problems with it whatsoever. Never once got a virus on it nor did it slow down. Then again, it was my mother's and she's pretty good with computers and I wouldn't doubt she took proper care of it to keep it ninja. The thing was ninja until it was completely destroyed in a house fire. Also, the Mac ran for for 2 years clean.
After that, got a solid PC. It ran swell for two years, then it got a virus. Fixed it up and it was good for another year until it got another virus, now it's all fucked up from my brother playing with it (he fucked the motherboard up somehow). Now I use a PC laptop, had it for a year and it's pretty solid.
Personal opinion, Mac, but I don't hate PC's one bit. It just takes a little more effort to keep them in shape.

I'm sure it's fine on a Mac, but it's absolutely atrocious on Windows. Had to put up with it for 3 years whilst I had an iPhones just to get stuff onto the phone... every other brand you just drag and drop from Explorer... fucking Apple.ketamine wrote:Well? Why? On a PC I could see some software issues arrising with WINDOWS because Microsoft sucks hot &ss, but not iTunes itself. Esp not on a Mac... Tbh, I don't get the need for all this library crap anyway. iTunes, Zune, even the new Winamps - it's just unneccesary. I organise my music myself in a fairly logical folder structure so all I need is a player. It's like having your HiFi come with a lorry full of flatpack furniture that you're forced to redesign your living room to accomodate just to store all your records the way they want you to.

Mine was included in the school fee so I don't know about the prices etc..joeki wrote:Yes, I'm not saying they don't make quality. But I do believe they overcharge their worth. My old laptop used to reject drivers or suddenly stop supporting them

OSX is only more stable due to it being limited with what hardware options you can use
basically if you want options in software and hardware you go with linux or windows
if you want something that just works you buy apple

Can foobar be used as a huuge ass playlist, tagged according to ID3, where you easily scroll through?
I love iTunes' ease of use.

Re: music players and computers....
yes, and you can pretty much customize foobar to how you want it to look layout and all
Re: music players and computers....
Sweet shit, I'll try to figure that out then. I don't like iTunes spying on everything I do.

Nah, but you should still give it a shot.thatjsound wrote:Does Foobar and all this other jazz work like itunes where you can plug your ipod in and manage what goes on it?
Yes it does actually; you just have to get a plugin for it.

Re: music players and computers....
Might get on this foobar thing, how does foobar behave with really short samples (less than a sec.)?
VLC just wont play it properly, I managed to fix this once but it's not working anymore

Re: music players and computers....
Plays them fine; I usually drag whole sample packs in to a play list.
The only beef with Foobar I have is when you double click a sound file from outside of foobar it overrides the main playlist (the first one created) so you generally have to have your first playlist as "Listening" and the 2nd as "all music" or however you like it set it up.
You can make it look absolutely stunning though, spesh these days where people upload a .rar of all components needed; back when I first started using it (05ish) you had to hunt around for hours just to get a skin to work just to see if it looked good on your computer haha!

With your graphic design & coding skills, you could probably make your foobar look EXACTLY how you wanted though...Most of the code went over my head; its all lua scripts and CSS.

Re: music players and computers....
Been using iTunes on my PCs since, I don't know, 2004 or 2005?
Never had one single problem with it and it starts up in like 30 seconds.
I don't get why you all have a problem with it to be honest.
And keep the Mac vs Windows debate for your next anal gangbang please.
