Turbulence's first official Dubstep vocal ever!

Post by don goliath » Sat Jun 30, 2007 3:38 pm

yes folks,

it had to be done ;)

i just voiced Jamaica's top ranking singjay Turbulence on one of my current dubstep riddims making this his first official dubstep riddim he ever voiced. tune's called "Set your spirit free" and now uploaded in my myspace profile:

www.myspace.com/dongoliath

i hope there will be more dubstep producers following this trend to go for full length vocal tunes so there ll be more positive lyrics in the dancehalls soon!

in the meantime hold tight for more big name JA singers being featured on my forthcoming productions and feel free to big up and/or critizise this choon. eventually doing this pls disregard the sound quality cuz as usual the actually brilliant mix/sound got fucked up by myspace's terrible lofi reencoding so you end up with annoying phase/formant issues especially for the high freqs. :(

320kbit mp3 dubplate enquiries as well as release enquiries are much appreciated!

feelin the vocal a lot

like the general tune structure and changes but the bass from 56 secs sounds a bit muddy/distorted for my ears. maybe its the myspace effect you mention but it's not sounding clear somehow?

thanks for sharing and was defo worth a listen.

the bassline distortion u mention was intended hence nothing to do with myspace this time ;)

i don't like it as much as i thought i would (huge fan of turbulence esp on scallawah) but the tune is a little too aggy in a way i'm not keen on.

big on the voicing though - i bet turbulence doesn't come cheap!

peace

Wicked wicked tune - really fresh bass sounds. I've put it in the new Dubstep reviews section in Mixmag out mid August.

respect, bredrin! getting turbulence is a damn good achievement! tuff tune! i would have appreciated a slightly different drum structure though, but it may be just personal taste.

the other tunes on your myspace also kicks ass especially "dubbing down babylon"
that would be a nice combination for a 12"

why not write a new tune to the melodic patterns of the vocal? when the aggi bit comes in, it doesnt seem to sit with the vocal.

Big up on working with Turbulence
I have just finished working on a rework of his tune Notourious (not for release or anything, more just for a bit of fun really). You can check it on my myspace page.

You've got some nice sounds going on with your tracks mate. What do you use to produce?
