Been looping that Goto 10 remix spatial posted since yesterday (never heard it before, assume it's new?) and i've been thinking - what makes Broken Note so unique? Why aren't we just calling it dub/brostep? I mean, all the breakless, steady tunes (not like Flood, Bad Acid, The Fury etc. ) are sort of like "dungeon" tunes made 5x darker and heavier, but with enough midrange that purists would dismiss it, and i don't really get it how i
know it's not dubstep... it's sort of halfway between Therapy Sessions stuff and Youngsta stuff and i can't believe nobody else had done it before! I guess the closest likeness i can think of is Chasing Shadows, with the reeses and the dark ambience, but CS still do something that boxes them into a genre. I dont know, i couldn't really describe their sound to people apart from "heavy dubstep yeahhh" but that doesn't really do it justice because of people's pre-concieved conceptions, and it is and it isn't, it's deceptively simple.
Just realised as i typed that that Broken Note are one of my favourite acts of all time, huh... I sort of want to find them and congratulate them, i didn't have anyone to go with, kicking myself now as i should of have just gone on my one...
