Tuning percussion + other track elements.

Post by bigdaveo11 » Wed May 30, 2012 5:14 pm

Was just wondering what else do you guys tune in your track besides the lead/bass obviously. I have been tuning my kicks but do you tune any other percussion/fx etc.???

Thanks for your time.

Well let me tell you this... If everything is in tune it sounds better than the opposite.

It depends though. You don't really have to tune things like hats or snares if you don't want to. With some things its just down to preference.

I don't even tune my keys.

in all seriousness tho I've been meaning to start tuning my drums for the past year. going to make a mental note of it and start, or attempt, from now on.

I really don't think you need to tune all your drum sounds, that seems excessive and totally not necessary.

Define "commercial music"?
And define "completely tuned"?

Interesting, thanks for the replies so far. Never really though of tuning my percussion at all, until now.

I have just been going by ear when tuning my kicks, adjusting them a few semitones up or down until it "fits" sometimes its the root note of the bass, other times its a 5th up etc...

Thanks again.
