the dev of this mod is part of the BIS interactive aka the guys who make the arma games and he confirmed day z will be coming to arma 3, which is probably one of the best looking games in ages and finally an engine overhaul which hopefully is optimized

Ooooh that looks dam nice, but I would just need a new computer, straight up lol have to play dayz atm in 1024x768 on low settings. Its alright tho, since 1.7 it now runs so smoothly you can keen an eye on your surroundings really well. But yeah, that looks aaaawesome...

And sory grillis, im useless with steam lol will get on it though, saw it pop up a while ago and just didnt really know what to do lol was probably knee deep in zombies...

They'd have to really dumb it down, or create a console specific version probably. They are firm PC game developers, people have been asking about console ports of ARMA for many years.
It most likely wouldn't run otherwise on current gen... maybe next gen consoles, but consoles are just weak computers these days really. Just spend the money on an actual PC you can upgrade easily and cheaply when needed?

Simulation games like this require a lot of mapped buttons and constant input from keys, not to mention a mouse. Of course you can add those to some consoles, but again - might as well get a more powerful PC. Not to mention mods. Modding is huge with PC games.

Plenty of time to upgrade. I doubt we'll see ARMA 3 until after the first few months of 2013 anyway. It's scheduled for late 2012 but everything gets pushed back these days.

I've tried out skype the last couple of sessions, it seems to be pretty cpu intensive... I've heard ventrillo is the preffered option? Regardless, a teamspeak server would be ideal.

In other news, found an ak-74 kobra in a deer stand before, replaced the regular ak I already had and now I have 5 clips too. Now onto Stolichnoy to pick up Grillis, then find some blood, epi pens and a backpack if what Ive heard about 1.7 glitching them isn't true...

the AI and size of the world is what makes it so cpu intensive and why it will never work on a console
that and wayyyy too many controls like you said
simulation games don't work for consoles, same as rts games

yeh, gonna build it me sen... lol i just had to re-learn all this pc baloney.

AMD FX-4170 4.20GHz (4.30GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 4-Core Processor
GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3 AMD 970A (Socket AM3+) DDR3 PCI-Express ATX Motherboard
Radeon HD 7770 1024MB GDDR5 (maybe later get x2 in xfire)

That's seems to be about the bare min for high graphics @ 1680.

It's the fact that dayz is gonna be made for arma 3 that' really got my balls all sweaty.

What's wrong with adding people on Steam and using the chat system of that?

not everyone playing is using the steam version or uses steam (also i don't know if you can have multiple people in on the same voice chat on steam)
we tend to use mics, not text chatting

Fair enough. Haven't used Steam voice chat in a while though, but I'm pretty sure you can have multiple people. Either way if anyone wants to add me on Steam, my name is alt_ctrl_delete656.
