Focusrite Saffire 6 vs 2i2
Not sure which one to get. I really like saffire because it has more outputs but it is 1.1 usb. Do you think it would cause any issues?
Also checked out 2i2, and looking good.
Any owners comments?
Thanks

I have the 2i2 and it works great for what I need it for. Sexy little box imo. I use it on Mac and its always worked great.
Can't comment on the other one though.

I have the 2i2, I love it. It's a solid little interface and comes with some surprisingly nice effects (compressor, EQ, reverb, and a couple others)

I worried about the usb 1.1 thing too.
I ordered it anyways, and when it came it was actually usb 2.0.
It said it all over the box, and directly on the device.
So yeah amazon lies.
And as far as comparing it to other audio cards go, I haven't used any others, but this thing is fucking solid. I just installed the driver shit and haven't had to worry about anything since. You plug it in, it becomes the primary audio device, you unplug it, your built in chipset takes over. Its no work.

Do you know if the 2i2 provides simultaneous playback? For example right now I have an EMU 0202 and when Ableton is opened, i cant listen to itunes etc.

Are you using an ASIO4ALL driver?uhslez wrote:Do you know if the 2i2 provides simultaneous playback? For example right now I have an EMU 0202 and when Ableton is opened, i cant listen to itunes etc.

not asio4all but EMU 0202 ASIO drivers. I think theyre different things because I used to have asio4all when I had no external card.
Re: Focusrite Saffire 6 vs 2i2
Hmm, I find it unusual that you can't get Ableton and iTunes to play back simultaneously then. Strange!uhslez wrote:not asio4all but EMU 0202 ASIO drivers. I think theyre different things because I used to have asio4all when I had no external card.

Re: Focusrite Saffire 6 vs 2i2
I made a topic once about it. I think it's got to do with the EMU interface not drivers.

Re: Focusrite Saffire 6 vs 2i2
I have the EMU interface as well and I have the same issue.
Not sure how Ableton is but FL has an "auto-close device" option that essentially switches drivers when I minimize FL. I can't play iTunes and a project at the same time though.

Re: Focusrite Saffire 6 vs 2i2
sorry to hijack this thread a little but have any of you tried the Focusrite Scarlett 8i6, Reason doesn't play nice with 2x2 audio interfaces.

The saffire is more superior in my opinion.
I have used it, it sounds nice and clean (pre-amps and dac/adc)
In the price range thats what i would go for.
