One KRK louder than the other
No troll srs!
Just wondered if anyone had this with the rokit rp5s? If its a common thing then I won't send them back. Using a cable with an xlr adapter thing on the end. Not sure what type of cables they are tbh, someone just gave me them. I'l post a screenie.
Anyone?

Re: One KRK louder than the other
this may sound silly but it's gotta be asked, are the individual speakers volumes at the same level?

Re: One KRK louder than the other
Audio interface is balanced properly on the outputs?

Re: One KRK louder than the other
Is the distance between the ceiling and the speakers the same on both sides?
Have you tried switching the two maybe.

If not a rogue software setting, I'd guess a room problem with reflection, or monitor positioning. Are they brand new/used/refurb?
Try 1/4 TRS cables instead too, the 6.3mm one.

Sorry what?wub wrote:Audio interface is balanced properly on the outputs?
Yep & yep. I think it may be the cables actually to be honest.AxeD wrote:Is the distance between the ceiling and the speakers the same on both sides?

Re: One KRK louder than the other
My left side is unfortunately a foot and a half away from a wall and the right side is about 15, causes all kinds of problems.

Re: One KRK louder than the other
Isnt this exactly why they both have individual volume controls?

Re: One KRK louder than the other
I had this problem with my KRK 5's but it was solved by turning the gain to +6 on both. What are yours set at? I had problems with the volume dropping out as well when both were set at -6 or 0 but it does say in the manual to set them to +6 for best performance.

I would blow the cones out of my krk's a few hundred yards if I turned mine up to -6db.

Re: One KRK louder than the other
KRK's are shit. My rokit 8's have different volume levels at the same gain setting too. I wish i'd spent more and got a decent pair of monitors. Just turn the gain down on the louder one, that's all i've done.

Well might be your soundcard and or mixer?

Re: One KRK louder than the other
Hmm. I still don't know too much about this. I have a saffire 6 usb interface, so surely when that is plugged in the soundcard/mixer on my laptop isn't used right?Depone wrote:Well might be your soundcard and or mixer?
I'm not even sure if I'm using the right cables tbh they are the same size as TRS but i plug them into an xlr with an adapter. Meh. Maybe they aren't correct.
Thanks for the answers.
Re: One KRK louder than the other
Depends if the adapter accepts trs input. Could just accept unbalanced ts 1/4 inch. I'd just get the right cables, it is not worth it trying to figure this shit out. If your soundcard only has balanced trs out, (forget about the krk's, they take xlr, do they take 1/4 balanced, I forget, but if it is 1/4 unbalanced only, just buy a cable that goes 1/4 balanced trs to xlr (of the gender that you need to get into the krk).

KRK's are actually very good entry level monitors!VirtualMark wrote:KRK's are shit. My rokit 8's have different volume levels at the same gain setting too. I wish i'd spent more and got a decent pair of monitors. Just turn the gain down on the louder one, that's all i've done.
