tr4sig - just in time

Post by iamrucke » Thu May 31, 2012 3:03 pm

This is my latest track, I haven't been producing dubstep for a while now so the sounds are pretty fresh. ;-) You can find a download link for a 320 at soundcloud.
Any comments, criticism appreciated! Peace

WTF... With this intro it really seems like it will be a good one. Love it!

And then heavy kick with swingy garage hits... good good good... but why so much reverb? The crackle is delicious.

Bass sounds wrong... is it the sound design or too much reverb? (no, it sounds wrong, not the reverb. notes good, sound I don't know...)

I like the music... but it is TOOOOO MUUUUUCH REVERRRRRB ON EVERYTHINNGGGGGG.

But you got a lot of emotion on this, it's rare. My tracks sound like they are made by a robot for example.

Crackly break at 3:33 (you half-satanist) ...totally nice.

Alarm before the break, lovelly, beat after breakdown not so lovely.

Intro and outro... fucking wicked. LOVE THEM. Clicky. Clicky.

I like this, my gripe though is with that snare. it seems like a weak bro-step snare. I reckon if you switched it for a rimshot with a bit more power behind it, it would fit better. But tune is sounding nice man, got a very garage'y minimal feel to it.

Thanks for the comments guys! Finally some constructive criticism. I might've gone a bit far with the reverb, point taken! The bass sounds wrong? I don't really know what you mean man, please elaborate if you can. About the snare, I thought it was a fun idea to sample my own drum kit. I thought it sounded cool and just stuck with it to try something different. I guess I could've at least layered it with something more to get some more punch?

Again thanks for the comments

Listening again now... "the bass is wrong" is way too harsh.
I am listening on (small) monitors now, I think what bothered me is that they sound a tad flabby... an undecided middle ground between subby/muted and buzzy.
Just being this picky because the rest sounds so good already.

By the way, you alluded to a dj-friendly version. I don't need it, but would like to see what you would change.

Could be, the bass sound isn't divided into different parts(sub/mid/tops) in this track it's just one synth. Except for that flutey kind of sound at the second drop which also plays some notes that are different from the main bass sound!
About the DJ-friendly version. I'd just raise the tempo a little bit, cut the long intro, and make a bit longer outro. Perhaps make the main parts a bit longer too since they're kinda short. Haven't got any ideas for a VIP though, at least not yet! :)
