cLOUDDEAD

Post by hopper » Mon Jul 09, 2007 8:54 pm

Any cLOUDDEAD fans on here? There first album is probably my favourite album period and whenever I go back to listen to any of their stuff it never gets old... Shame we won't get to hear any more of their stuff again, but all three are trudging on with their own thing. Not so keen on some of the why? stuff but Odd Nosdam and EVERY dose one project are sickness.

Downloaded the Peel sessions last week. Totally mad stuff, really good. I like that one track that samples some woman talking for ages on the phone then there's feedback and someone says "Hello? Who is this....?" I think it's called Pop Song. Amazing.

generally agree with you but to claim the above quite clearly means you haven't heard slowdeath. :D

howstrange, i am with you on their debut.. nothing will ever be made quite like it. it's basically abstract impressionism in musical form.. all those fragmented lyrics and sudden musical shifts in pace, rhythm and style - incredible.

pop song is off the second album, which was.. mmkay i guess. far better is '21st century pop song', the first track off 'hymie's basement' - a self-titled one-off album from why? and andy broder aka fog.

boomnoise and i have dangerously high levels of knowledge about this era of dubiously backpacker hh, feel free to test us ;)

IMO dose was a mess of ideas in which some were wank and some were genius - you had to delve to work out which was which - while why? was a poppier artist with experimental tendencies and interests. nosdam did his bit as well of course.

i can't remember slowdeath...

cLOUDDEAD - s/t is probably the most important record I own. It just fukked me period. Never gets old.

Apt's & Jimmy Breeze are mi favorites.

But, as much a I love the record, I think that the Sound Of A Handshake 10" is the best thing cLOUDDEAD has ever made. With all the Michael Jackson samples :D Epic stuff.

Sound of a handshake, anyone?
