I'm totally late to hearing about this but I don't think its that black and white. You have to consider the kids emotional attachment to creating it, the fact that he probably doesn't have an established career like most the people being sampled. If I'm Daniel Licht or Akira Yamoaka what the fuck do I care if people sample me? Its just not the same in this particular case.

anyways what I came to say is this:

etc

Character studies are what weak writers turn to when they can't formulate more than one interesting character.

he sampled a youtube video of a kid play a microkorg and then the kid got but hurt because he said zomby never asked for permission originally and then wasn't nice to him

sure, but at the end of the day, it's still not fair for someone to take your work and claim it's their own

this scenario is quite different from sampling imo, cause it's not like zomby actually did anything to the sample. there's no artistic merit in just copy + pasting of someone else's synth work and calling it yours. if he actually cut it up, rearranged it, etc. and did something artistic, that'd be a whole nother matter
