like honestly why does he care...its not like he was gonna make money off that video...if anything its gotten him more exposure

sure, but at the end of the day, it's still not fair for someone to take your work and claim it's their own

this scenario is quite different from sampling imo, cause it's not like zomby actually did anything to the sample. there's no artistic merit in just copy + pasting of someone else's synth work and calling it yours. if he actually cut it up, rearranged it, etc. and did something artistic, that'd be a whole nother matter

When you use synth lines and chord progressions that sound like something you'd actually design, people will assume you designed them. When you sample an orchestra or tetris its blantantly obvious that you're flipping a sample.

Harder how? To give credit? The point is it sounded like something he would write, but he didn't. He knew people would assume he created it even though he didn't. Its not one part of the situation, its the whole ordeal that comes off as cunty.

im a hiphop head myself, i just dont think that all forms of sampling should be equally respected.

there's sampling where the producer does something creative and cool with it, which deserves respect, and then there's lazy sampling, or even worse, just copying and pasting a track, which doesn't deserve the same amount of respect (or perhaps even none at all)

I don't mind some borgore, in fact i posted Casablanca on this thread and people actually received it quite warmly. Also Guided Relaxation Dub is a fucking tune, was pretty groundbreaking those years ago, for good or bad. Say what you want, his style was unique, it's not his fault it resonated well with some people who decided to mimic him.

I mean, some of his lyrics are utter shit (Delicious for example, is one of the few tracks that I listen to the instrumental over the vocal mix), but I think he's pretty good with making vibes (My Favorite Tingz for example) and tearing them down. Solid brostep.
