this scenario is quite different from sampling imo, cause it's not like zomby actually did anything to the sample. there's no artistic merit in just copy + pasting of someone else's synth work and calling it yours. if he actually cut it up, rearranged it, etc. and did something artistic, that'd be a whole nother matter
When you use synth lines and chord progressions that sound like something you'd actually design, people will assume you designed them. When you sample an orchestra or tetris its blantantly obvious that you're flipping a sample.
