i'm not tree hugging to be a pain in the ass. i just have zero time for people quick to sit at home tearing things down from their computer chair, when the reality is, that they do nothing at all themselves to change things.

i'm directing this at no one specifically in this thread, just generalizing.

Why? Pointing out the hypocrisy of an event such as this does not indicate there is an eco warrior inside struggling to get out.

Wot a joke! carbon credits mean nothing, its just the re-distribution of cash under the guise of being environmentally friendly. plus this event was set up purely to raise awareness of the problem. anyone who STILL isnt aware of climate change and global warming after the torrent of media coverage over the last couple of years probably lives in a cave and doesnt need to know. LIVE EARTH = BIG PILE OF BULLSHIT

Is it not possible to think that Live Earth is a waste of time, but still cut down on electricity or recycle rubbish?

And you were directing things at people in your post that you edited. How come we can't see 'edited by seckle at ....'?

cause hes an admin...it was something like out to the armchair crew doing nothing or something something like that.

i agree with you paul, SOME people are content with doing their own thing and dont need everyone to know about it. its like beaing a tree hugger is some kind of badge of honor to show off everywhere u go.
seattle is filled with people who feel its necessary to flaunt it... zzzz

If they really wanted to help, they should never tour again. All the stage kit, crew and whatever flying around the world and being carried in convoys from gig to gig isn't really eco-friendly is it. Looking at how much fuel was used just to get them to one gig, you can see c

Bio diesel is not really the future, just to keep england running, we'd need another country the size of england dedicated just to growing crops that could be turned into fuels. China's already reverted to fossil fuels as turning that much land over to run cars rather than feed people is not viable.
Hmm....

why is it "natural" to progress? Oh yeah i mean humans must be intelligent, all the progression and intelligence making us the dominant species, but what other species is stupid enough to destory its own habitat

Viruses often do pretty well and their carbon footprint is minimal

Sure, if you count all the hospital waste that is incinerated becauase of them. Missing the point arent we?

Not really. The answer still holds. It is another species destroying it's habitat and I gave you an example.

The human race is one of the biggest viruses on the face of the planet, it's actually dumber than the virus in some ways cause it hasn't got another host body to jump to (although the Rapture Ready crew think God's going to make a new one, but they are fucktards).

To actually change this around would mean that everyone on the planet would need to be consuming far less than they are now, try and not overpopulate areas with scarce resources, and probably have to move towards locally produced food again (I went to the supermarket today, and I couldn't find any apples from this hemisphere, let alone country).

Although the Live Earth concert was trying to raise consciousness, the sheer hipocrisy of people that spend the majority of the year travelling in jets telling us to plant more trees is a joke. A lot of people are not going to change their habits until it's way too late, and the market economy being seen as above the environment, the government's not going to do much about it.

Can't really blame the virus for climate change cause it was so successful now can we - would I be blamed for adding pollutants to the planet if my house was firebombed?
Hmm....

ex-fucking-actly!

humans will never stop polluting and destroying the environment, it's in our very nature.

we have paved alot of this world over with concrete and buildings like a rash on ur skin, in the name of progress, in the name of advancing technologies (apple proberbly operate from thousands of buildings around the world all creating their own pollution and waste - are u gonna throw ur ipod away? are u gonna stop buying electronic goods that are solely in aid of pleasure? NO) in the name of advancing treatment and medicines (pharmaceutical companies are huge businesses creating huge amounts of waste and pollution in their operations, not to mention hospitals - does that mean that u would object to taking such life-saving medicines and treatments if u or a close friend or a member of ur family was in a fatal situation? i think not!), and in the name of generally becoming a more and more advanced species. this advancing in turn creates pollution and waste and general disintigration of our environment.

i imagine that if dogs or cats had opposable thumbs and a larger brain they would fuck up the environment just the same. *shrug*

i read a bit of an interesting book which suggested that the direction humanity is going in is a part of our developing consciousness and is happening for the greater good... or summit like that

Was quite interesting watching the grand prix over the weekend, watching Millionaires who get flown all over the world in private jets enjoy themselves, burning loads of fuel and doing nothing environmental at all. Sorry did I say Grand Prix? I meant Live earth.

But Bio diesel is the scurge of the eco warrior pipe tokers.

fu fighters rocked that show mind... bet the drummer was chugging that bio diesel all night long...

Oh yeh! on the whole save the earth thingy.. I always wondered why the official colour for saving up the planet for others to use, is GREEN...

Who the heck decided that!

And do they get royalties for every thing GREEN.
GREEN Energy... Mental..

GREEN is a bizarre thing!
In Tesco they have The big green bag!!
Its fucking Blue in Colour!!!! Whats that all about....

'I'm very Green I recycle!!!'
What,,
'Hold on, Mr Jones. Your green ... No Your fucking Mental..'

Green is supossed to be unlucky in Britain..
Claiming your motors a green runner is just stupid if its ferrari red.

Envy is represented by the colour Green to.. Why ?

In high schools in the United States during the 1960s, it was widely believed that if someone wore green on Thursdays, it meant that they were homosexual

The Green Party= Not green & are not having a party?

Green is the colour of nature.
But then again so is brown, blue pink yellow orange purple & red.. I can see a rainbow I can see a rainbow!! But advertising companies see a rainbow representing Planet saving issues as very costly so we all say lets just have green, as its a lovely colour & its green..
I've confused myself??
Green is Fucking with my head....
I'm laying off it for a month..
