What's the status on this? I read their website and they aren't saying much about their progress...but the features list looks so great

Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
I still can't believe the fact that despite the colour scheme it looks exactly like Ableton... not even subtle in the slightest.

Im still half convinced its a joke.

You won't find much, mate. I can't find anything about it other than that damn 38-second video.OfficialDAPT wrote:Do you know the release date or if it's been announced yet? or do I have to go google diving?itzDetrimental wrote:Damn, that actually looks really nice. They have a form on the site to sign up for a closed beta, but there's no telling how many people will get in.

I'm pissed because that's exactly how it is with "ableton 9"... except no video of that. We know it's been under production but no details whatsoever have been release. C'MON GUYS!!!itzDetrimental wrote:You won't find much, mate. Lol I know right. I hate all the secrecy. I'd get more hyped for a product if I could get a features/improvement list..OfficialDAPT wrote:I'm pissed because that's exactly how it is with "ableton 9"... except no video of that. Regardless you might wanna try to get in the closed-beta. No idea if there are even any spots left, but it's worth a shot.

Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
From Ableton. Regarding Ableton 9
It seems to me that we're not doing anything differently than Bitwig. Just like them, we spend a lot of time working on the next version (the first in their case), and when we feel we're ready, we announce it and then it takes a little while before the actual release. For 3 years, Bitwig said no word about what their software would do, just like Ableton has always done. I see little difference here!
Believe me, we're not asleep! A lot of us would just love to tell you guys about Live 9, because it will be a kick-ass release. It's a little frustrating for us as well, but that's the game. On the other hand, Bitwig just announced their software, which they've been working hard on for a long time, so it's only fair that they get their share of attention now.
However you're right on one point: we do welcome competition! We've been sitting alone in our market segment for a very long time, and there's nothing better than competition to wake you up and release the good creative energy, and boy do we have that in store! We're very much looking forward to competing on features, user benefit and innovation, but please bear with us if we choose not to play the Internet-buzz game, because it's not in our values and we're working hard on stuff that matters instead.
Let's wait for Bitwig Studio to be released, and may the best product win!

Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
I love the idea of online "multiplayer" production. If this is released at a price point closer to FL, I could see it being a bit of an Ableton killer.
Fingers crossed! (for a competitive price point, not killing ableton).

Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
Perhaps they won't be keeping the Ableton GUI...perhaps they plan to create a new interface, because GUI's can take a lot of work to create, and if they choose openGL for their graphics library (most likely) then it will take all the more time.
Either way, it looks like a serious piece of software. I'd love to get myself a copy once it's released.

Bitwig beta video
Bitwig posted a video showing the beta version, which'll be sent out very soon according to them. Hadn't seen this on the forum so thought i'd post it for those interested.

The whole UI better be customizable. I'll die before I use a program with a browser on the right side. PREPOSTEROUS!nowaysj wrote:God, I hope they don't go with this crowded one screen thing...
Yea after seeing a list of cool features, this video was definitely a reality check.
Re: Bitwig beta video
Would have to use it to tell if this was a bad point or not, does look quite clustered tho.nowaysj wrote:God, I hope they don't go with this crowded one screen thing...
Preposterous is the only word applicable here. How dare they even think they can have the browser on the right and get away with it.hurlingdervish wrote:The whole UI better be customizable. Re: Bitwig beta video
I'm not very excited about Bitwig, so far it hasn't shown anything that other daws can't already do. It doesn't seem to have curved automation for a start. It looks very similar to Ableton, except that Ableton is tried and tested.
I'm much more excited about Ableton 9 and Logic X, can't wait to see what they bring to the table.

Only problem with the idea of producing on linux is that the Focusrite Saffire 6 doesn't work on linux...it's a shame.

Bitwig beta has begun
Just got an email saying that the beta has begun but i am not in the first round of testers. I am sure many of you have also recently gotten this email and if anyone is in the first round of testers i would love to hear about the beta and maybe some pictures if you can.
