so if you take a pretty respectable DJ who must get a lot of submissions every week, what percentage of them are guys that have already established themselves and what percentage do you think are guys like me who have never made a dime off their music?
I mean like most of them? or more guys that are already in the game?

I'd say it differs on the style of the artist, I feel someone from circus is gonna get a lot more unsigned people and I think a label like deep medi will get more established people. Really just basing this off what styles and labels are becoming more popular and saturatedrayman612 wrote:so if you take a pretty respectable DJ who must get a lot of submissions every week, what percentage of them are guys that have already established themselves and what percentage do you think are guys like me who have never made a dime off their music?

Nicely spammed. I'd have almost fallen for it, if you hadn't posted the same URL elsewhere in a vague attempt to win something.

2012 Edit:
I have now put together the website http://howtosendmemusic.com so that you can use it for guidance, and so that other producers can use it as somewhere to send people for the basics.

Re: Sending dubs? Here's some help: Dub Etiquette...
Just a little reminder do not send emails to 50 people at once and not use the BCC. I just got this.
I learned this lesson the hard way, if your reading this you dont have to.
Not saying who its from, I dont want to piss them off more.First off, putting all of those addresses in one email and not "bcc'ing" is totally unprofessional. I was polite and told you that I wasn't interested but you still "spam" me with your stuff. From this point on, if I see your name, I'll look the other way. Was that what you were trying to achieve? I can assure you that I'm not the only one that feels this way. I'd appreciate it if you'd take me off of your list and stop sending me emails.
Thanks,

Re: Sending dubs? Here's some help: Dub Etiquette...
I feel like that every time I get a big CCd email - I tend not to reply, because I don't like to add to the problem, but if it's a repeat offender, I do occasionally add a filter to my email host that deletes any emails from that person before they even land in my inbox - keeps it stress free for me.
Re: Sending dubs? Here's some help: Dub Etiquette...
Yer I just didnt think about it. All I was thinking was how I could send them out as easily as possible. Whats funny is I read this thread the other day and I didnt even think about it even know it says not to. I feel well stupid now.

Maybe this has already been covered, but I was wondering; if you're sending your tunes to someone, say the owner of a label, would it then be more polite towards the recipient and more beneficial for yourself to provide them with some extra background info on either yourself or your tunes? Like a short explanation of what your vision or goal is or what you're trying to accomplish with your music.
Or do you reckon that the recipients generally don't have time to read through all that because they're already swamped with emails from other people who are sending them tunes.
Thanks.
