Yeah that album is amazing. Pure evil atmosphere and some of the most powerful shifting bass of any music.Dub_freak wrote:Listening to the album black one, and im actually quite liking it.

Earth 2 is an amazing album.
First time I listened to Sunn was because of the 'maximum volume yields maximum results' statement on the back of the CD

For all you Sunn and general sludgy stoner fans
Re: SUNN O)))
Anyone else going to the koko show next week? Totally stoked to see them may finally!
Re: SUNN O)))
I am! Seen them a few times already, so I'm actually lookin forward to Nurse with Wound a bit more tbhFunj wrote:Anyone else going to the koko show next week? Totally stoked to see them may finally!
Kind of hoped to see Nurse under the heavy influence of at least LSD, but I'm off there with the GF and her mum, so I don't think that's going to quite happen

Re: SUNN O)))
Haha there that would be nut. Yeah, totally keen for Nurse With Would as well, should be a banger.
Re: SUNN O)))
"Banger"
Mate, it's a bit half and half. I'm quite boring so a few hours of basically ambience is all good n' the hood for me, but I've had mates who have completely hated it.
If you're a merchandise whore, there's always a few tasty things on display early, often 12" which'll cost you a shitload to buy elsewhere, if you can find them. But you have to get there quite early as a lot of other stnuc have the same idea. To be fair, Sunn, Boris an general Southern Lord elitists are the worst fucking elitists you will ever find.
I remember seeing THAT gig when Sunn and Boris played together after separate sets (Boris playing Flood before, which words can't describe) with Earth in support...and they had Sunn nappies on the merchant stall and beard necks were buying them.

not as bad as Hydrahead circa 2002 that was the pinnacle imo, fucking multi-coloured limited edition records all over the place.Dead Rats wrote:To be fair, Sunn, Boris an general Southern Lord elitists are the worst fucking elitists you will ever find.
The funny thing is on the Southern Lord forums back in the day everyone used to rip into Hydra Head and all their scams whilst SL now perform a very similar function.

The doomed forever forum, which was made after they took the SL forum down, is ridiculous. I'll have the odd peruse here and there and it's full of threads about what record you bought, what edition, not enough threads about the actual music.

sounds like a typical hardcore forum.
Think im going to go home and dig out 'earth - pentastar' tonight, turn all the lights off and fester

Re: SUNN O)))
The thing I like about SNH is that many people on here have such a broad taste in music.
I'm wondering now if buying a ticket for mum was a good idea after all, haha. Though she saw Boredoms and Boris with us before...

is just some sort of sonic experiment? i saw in another vid they have songs over 100 minutes in length![]()
also the cloaks are weird, almost religious...
I saw Sunn in 2009 at the Supersonic festival in Birmingham and didnt know really know what to expect because I'd never heard of 'em. I think you need to see them live to appreciate what they are about. It was a completely immersive experience that blew us away and we were literally speechless at the end, a youtube video really doesnt capture it. If you get the chance go and see them, they dont just play anywhere and are very specific about the sound requirements for their performances. I guarantee you will receive a full sonic massage with a happy ending.

truth right herewolf89 wrote:Basically seeing them live is the ultimate thing that will make you get it. It's fucking awesome.
Otherwise get an album by them and listen to it really fucking loudly (books fell of the shelf last time I listened to their black album)
watching them play on youtube is kind of boring as fuck and will result in you missing the point (like listening to Loefah through laptop speakers would)

You guys got me interested in the bad so I think I'm gonna get Black One. Is that a decent enough place to start?
