Re: The SNH Football thread
The difference in quality in Holland's on and off ball game is pretty drastic

We deserved it. Decent offensive play, should have been something around 4-1.Mehlovich wrote:
But all in all, it was a penalty but we should have finished at least some of the hundreds of chances.
Only hope comes from the fact that Portugal - Germany was downright awful football too.

Re: The SNH Football thread
I just placed 2 quid on Ireland 1-Croatia 0 Richard Dunne to score based on a prediction of a pissed up Ireland fan outside the stadium on the ITV buildup
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.

as a Irish lad iam happy for them and hope they do well. As a nation we dont expect much just to go and enjoy it.
I feel like i wasted all my football energy on club football and not to fussed what happens at the euros.

Good match, rather hoped Balotelli would go and get himself sent off but there you go. Torres was just Torres as usual this season, both goals were quality (unlucky to the lad next to me down who popped out for a smoke and missed both of them), couldn't be fucked to stay for Ireland Croatia.
Re: The SNH Football thread
Why play with no striker? Just meant Italy could play as high up as they liked- only Iniesta was making incisive runs the whole time. Torres made them look so much better, they could actually stretch Italy rather than just play infront of them- imagine if they'd brought on (or started with) a striker who could score...
Re: The SNH Football thread
Because it works for Barcelona and they were taking a punt on it working for the national side.hutyluty wrote:Why play with no striker? Just meant Italy could play as high up as they liked- only Iniesta was making incisive runs the whole time.
Until it got to that key moment where he actually needed to put the ball in the back of the net.hutyluty wrote:Torres made them look so much better
Re: The SNH Football thread
He should have realised at half time and changed it round. That Spanish side should have destroyed that italy side and would have done if they'd played Llorente at the start- or brought him on at half timewub wrote:Because it works for Barcelona and they were taking a punt on it working for the national side.hutyluty wrote:Why play with no striker? well yeah, took out the rest of my point there. Bringing on Torres made the Spanish play a lot better as they actually had a focal point to build around upfront. Bringing torres on over llorente or negredo was ridiculous though, he shouldn't even be at the tournament after the last couple of years he's had.wub wrote:Until it got to that key moment where he actually needed to put the ball in the back of the net.hutyluty wrote:Torres made them look so much better

They got a draw against probably the toughest team in their group, they should be happy with that.hutyluty wrote:He should have realised at half time and changed it round. I was pleasently surprised with the way the Italians played, enjoyed watching them. Only dissapointed with the result of the dutch game so far.

Van Persie has always made me laugh and not in a good way. It's your country's best strikerwub wrote:

There's no place for nice football in today's championships, we should get back to kicking Portugese off the pitch.
If the Netherlands can't turn it around I hope Russia or Germany takes it.
