When a baby spider is born it probably doesn't know how to build a decent web. And i'm sure they don't go to spider-web building lessons to learn how. So at what point in their life do they know how to build these magnificent structures? Are they taught or do they just instinctively know?

because it's random. mutations don't create what would be the most beneficial trait for an organism; they just happen, and natural selection keeps any traits that are better. it was a coincidence that humans mutated to be this intelligent, and not many other animals have similarly mutated. i would say that some have though, just look at how intelligent dolphins, elephants, etc. are. it's quite possible that in hundreds of thousands / millions of years, they might reach a similar level of intelligence (if they or the planet don't die out first)

some birds are very intelligent

crows will carry nuts up over crosswalks and drop them so cars will drive over and crack them, then they watch for the walk signal and go get the crushed nut

I know they used to make good tunes, but it seems like they were on the verge of obscurity until they hitched to the ukf wagon a couples years back. I just looked up live clips and it seems that their shows now are like bro-outs with, i kid you not, them organising wall of death mosh things. Plus they look about 40 and should be dressing like adults.
