I did read an article about mixing, where the writer gave some examples like if kick is -8bd the hats should be round -something, but also said that it is just a rough example to give some direction about mixing, so that ppl aint doing it like hats -1db and kick -5db etc.

I put the nouns around -30 so the mastering engineer has enough headroom for adjectives. And I put my verbs on sends.

Good idea with the verbs on sends, I'll have to try that out.

I just saw a typewriter go for like 8 grand on ebay. Fuckin ridiculous what some people will pay to get that analogue warmth on the page.

The only thing I have not seen discussed when it comes to mixdown is volume for basslines (Mid Range etc)
most of the time it's just drum and sub talk.

Where do you guys have your basslines peaking in comparison to your kick, sub and snare? I know it varies per tune, but like other elements there will be a loose guide as to where they sit in the mix.
