In which direction is Dubstep going??

Honestly who cares what the mainstream is doing music-wise or trend-wise? The best thing I ever realised is that the most powerful movement in mainstream isn't music or art but celebrity. It certainly isn't dubstep and in a couple of years this trend will die off, though certain artists who have reached celebrity status will probably have a bit more staying power if they play their cards right.

I'm just here making the music I love, trying to push it ahead bit by bit. I'd rather pioneer something new than try to bring back the dead, since dubstep as a genre is rapidly becoming obsolete with all the new mutations and spin-offs coming along that are pushing the envelope further.

Though to honest I always considered dubstep more of a musical idea than an actual genre with bound limits, so I guess in that respect dubstep will carry on since ideas never die.

According to the emergent/dominant/residual model of culture, dubstep has entered the dominant phase. Around now there should be some emerging new shit in electronic/dance music (if it exists already, I'm not aware of it). By the time this new thing is "mainstream," dubstep will be old and exhausted.

This can't technically be considered dubstep, though, because dubstep is defined by its BPM and focus on the bass area of the spectrum. Brostep is focused on midrange, not bass...therefore, it isn't dubstep.

Cars were originally made with four wheels, a steering system, and seats for passengers. If cars started being manufactured with wings rather than wheels, it would be an airplane, not a car. This is because the concept of the car is no longer being followed.

That's not what happened. Aeroplanes were invented seperately, for a different purpose. They were not an evolution from the car. What you've described is the flying car, not an aeroplane.

Therefore, brostep is a kind of dubstep. This ends the proof.
