Digital Mystikz are a dubstep production duo (consisting of Mala and Coki – when the two started making music together as teenagers they were known as Malibu and Coke) from the South London suburb of Norwood. Along with Loefah and Sgt. Pokes, they operate the DMZ record label and host the influential bimonthly nightclub DMZ, held at the Mass club complex in Brixton, London. BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel, was an early supporter of Digital Mystikz, eventually putting them in his annual 2004 Top 50 list at #29. They are among the scene's most famous producers. Their song "Anti War Dub" appeared in the 2006 film "Children of Men," although it wasn't included in the soundtrack. In the summer of 2008, Mala was chosen to headline the night portion of the Sónar Festival in Barcelona. In April 2011 Mala travelled to Cuba with Gilles Peterson who was returning to Havana to produce the second instalment in the 'Havana Cultura' series. While Peterson recorded new material with local musicians, Mala began work on a new album.
DMZ
DMZ has been described as one of dubstep's two "most influential regular clubnight" (with its predecessor FWD>> the other one) and "central to the scene." Since starting in March 2005, the club's attendance has increased steadily. DMZ's first anniversary, when a queue of 600 people forced the club to move from its regular 400-capacity space to Mass' main room, has been cited as a pivotal moment in dubstep's history. BBC Radio 1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbs, whose support of dubstep has increased the music's popularity, discovered it at DMZ. </ref> fliers carry the slogan "come meditate on bass weight." In 2005, an assortment of songs were created specifically to be played on the club's soundsystem.
NOAH D - Smog/Subway/Hench/Argon - San Francisco

San Francisco based Noah D (aka Noah Dickinson) is regarded as one of today’s top dubstep DJs and producers. His diverse sound can simply be described as heavy hypnotic bass music. With over 10 years of production experience, first starting in hip-hop and drum & bass, he seamlessly blends genres and pushes the boundaries in the ever-evolving dubstep/bass music scenes.
“I’ve always had a diverse palate for music. My parents always had music playing when I grew up and I used to be obsessed with the first boombox I had. When I picked up a guitar at age 18, I never put it down.”
Noah D started his electronic music career in the late 90’s after listening to drum & bass artists such as Boymerang and Photek. In 2001 he started producing and by 2008 had already released music on well known drum & bass labels such as Renegade Recordings, Human Imprint, Trouble On Vinyl and Pure Vibez all the while receiving worldwide support from some of the genres leading acts such as DJ Hype and Dieselboy.
After being turned onto dubstep from longtime friends and roommates Babylon System, Noah D’s appreciation for the genre increased and the three started collaborating on music.
“I’ve always been more drawn to slow heavy music as opposed to fast heavy music whether electronic or not. Even when I made DNB I worked on a lot of 1/2 step beats so dubstep was a natural progression for me.”
Together they produced the track “Examination of Time” and the second phase of Noah D’s electronic music career began. In 2009 his dubstep track “Seeeriousss” received praise from some of the genres key players (Skream, N-Type and Plastician) saw radio play on BBC’s radio 1, 1xtra, Rinse FM and Kiss and became a full-fledged dubstep anthem. Since then, Noah D has had a slew of releases on various labels such as Subway, H.E.N.C.H., Liondub Intl. and Westbay to name a few.
In 2011 the well-accomplished DJ and producer was signed to Los Angeles based SMOG Records and has since been busy in the studio working on his forthcoming debut full-length album titled, Perspective. Starting simply as collection of music he wanted to share with his friends and fans, the album quickly grew into an intricate piece of work that takes listeners though multiple BPM ranges. It features collaborations from talented vocalists in the areas of hip-hop, dancehall, grime and r’n’b and showcases the depth and diversity his fans have come to know and love.
“I’ve always wanted to do this album. 2012 is all about distinguishing myself as an artist, elevating my career to the next level.”
With the release of Perspective this spring and a North American & European tour currently in the works Noah D continues to push the boundaries in 2012!
