Records that sound good at 33 1/3 and 45 rpm

Post by thatjsound » Thu Jun 21, 2012 4:42 am

I just picked up Enchante - Crazy Way Trax and was pretty astounded at how comforting it was to listen to it at other speeds. I know with this case it's kinda deliberate, but another EP that works this way is Andy Stott's - We Stay Together. I think it's an awesome concept. You guys know any others?

not joking either, listened to it the first time on the wrong rpm by mistake and shit sounded unreal, those hi hats!

loads of post-punk/industrial/new wave stuff from the 80s sounds good on the wrong rpm too. this version of The Associates' Its Better This Way sounds 'even better' slowed down lol -

I'll occasionally put this on at 33rpm, it's not really noticeable

Damn, reaally keen on hearing some of these. That Author track seems like it would be exciting, as well as the Autechre ones. Another one that I like to pitch down is Ramadanman's refix of Royal Sound

I need more records to entertain myself with this

I invented a genre by mixing awful cheesy slow long ass trance records together on 45 instead of 33 once,
