not sugggesting that they should  it's just a bit odd. Is it because benga's sound has become more mainstream recently?

Well Loefah hasn't actually released any tunes so there is nothing to hate on.

Its a shame really because i've always looked up to Benga as one of the greats. I like him more for what he did with Skream back in the day than his actual music as some of his tunes I find annoying but don't get me wrong I don't like some of his tracks such as Nando's, Night (I actually really use to dislike this track but its grown on me), On A Mission, Judgement Day, Smack Your Bitch Up, etc but yeah he should have kept at it.

It annoys me that now he feels un-comfortable in the scene because of how commercial dubstep has gone. For christ sake, him and Skream were a couple of the main producers at the time that said 'right, here's some dubstep and were gonna see how far we can get this recognised in the UK scene' and they arguably did a lot to get it commercially rolling. If he's going to make more tunes like Icon which feel a bit weak and sort of shallow for Benga, then I'm going to start losing interest.

Big ups to the likes of Distance, Burial and Plastician for keeping it real though. I mean they really have stayed true.

It's a shame. I truly believe Benga's production is still in the top 3 in regards to Dubstep. He has the ability to make simple noises sound immense.

But I'll never see the same Benga I did those years ago, and the same thing applies to Dubstep. And "the future" is a very loose term, if he thinks any of the artists mentioned are GOIN to be worth shit in 2 years, including himself, think again.

The sheep will move, but they'll always be a dark room, soundsystem and a complete lack of CDJ's should he ever have an attack of memory:

I honestly don't know where the idea that he's scared of the commercialisation of dubstep has come from, or that he's trying to distance himself from a scene that contains the likes of Dr. P/Skrillex, etc.

He's part of a group that had a top 5 album on a major label, and is currently producing tunes with vocalists on Sony, and on his Radio 1 primetime show with Skream, they happily played the likes of Skrillex.

Either he's been misunderstood here, or he's trying to act like he had no part in something he was one of main "culprits in" (pushing accessible dubstep to the masses, I have no opinion on whether that's a good thing, btw).

i thought his recent kapsize release was pretty good, other than that i haven't enjoyed any of his music for the last 5 years or so, not fussed at all. is he joining one of these indie/electro bands or something? the amount of exposure he's getting on NME i wouldn't be suprised

Benga just needs to chill out for a minute.

He can't not do what he's already done - which is make some decent dubstep.

If dude wants to make some pop oriented music to give a platform to vocalists so what...

Skrillex is a different issue though.

But in his defense - Skrillex made a sound and people jumped up and started throwing panties and cash....
What's he supposed to do - cease and desist - because he isn't representing the artform appropriately?

...and I like the Magnetic Man stuff.
Things don't always have to be super dark and hard.
Does it hit my top shelf - no - but I have other - completely respectable shelves.

This is a beautiful song.

My biggest question when Skrillex hit was where is Claw and those Trillbass kids?
Datsik - Excision...

I kinda thought they had that dark/metal rocker angle worked out...

Not my cup of tea but I thought they did it well.

Skream admitted on Facebook that this whole video was a wind-up, I don't think we're supposed to take any of their claims seriously. I mean Skream also said he's gonna retire the name 'Skream' and start releasing death metal, and Benga said he's getting Prince and Justin Bieber on his new album. So basically, you've all been trolled.

On another note though, I think Benga's kind of working against himself here. Like, look at the titles of his last two tunes (I Will Never Change and Icon) and the stuff he's been saying about wanting to basically live up to those two titles. So on one hand he wants to become the big iconic rockstar and be remembered in time, but on the other hand the music he's making is getting more and more generic and unremarkable. I don't know how he expects to be remembered when he seems so determined to become just another pop producer. I was hoping his new album would be full of tunes like Katy On A Mission and Smack Your Bitch Up, but it sounds like it'll be bland as fuck so far and not represent the Benga sound at all. I'll reserve judgement til I hear the whole thing, but... shit looks bleak.

they seemed pretty serious about it - I'd think that if they were trolling they'd be giggling more
