All this talk of the UK and US version of The Office has reminded me...has that Americanisation of Only Fools & Horses started yet? That's gonna be such an abortion.

Yeah big up Jesus for dying for our sins and netting us a public holiday in the process.

Also, hot cross buns.

Just had to pop up to the canteen level as all our toilets were engaged... actual snoring coming from Trap 2. Someone's having an even harder Monday than me...

This is where you need a rape alarm or something similar. Set it off in the cubicle next to him and then shout FIIIIIIIIRE.

Sounds about right for a network engineer.

We used to have a bloke that would come in for a couple of weeks at a time as a consultant when I was working in local government in the Westcountry... he always said he was an insomniac, so used to do our lumping about over night - he'd do stuff like build server racks and have them ready for us in the morning... eventually we worked out he was just doing it to rinse getting on for 20hours/day working and not having to pay for a B&B when he was down (he lived in Reading really)... he wasn't an insomniac in the fucking slightest during the daytime.

One day when he'd gone for a nap in the loos we decided to time his sleep... just kept going in to see if he was still there.... SIX HOURS IN A CUBICLE... we ended up having to give up because it was hometime! The funny thing was that management all knew but he was such an effective worker that they didn't really care.

Eventually they were forced to never ask him back about 2 days after we installed SMS for the first time... the first sweep across the network for *.avi, *.mpg etc returned a substantial archive of porn on his workstation which left somewhat unpleasant images of him interfering with himself in the office inside everyone's heads. It would've been awful. :corncry:

When I clocked it was snoring and not someone about to have a heart attack (Proper wheezy snoring), I cleared my throat really loudly... he did one of those cartoon-sleeping-giant mumbles under his breath as if he was about to wake up and then went back to snoring. I think he's in for the long haul, tbh. :cornlol:

Yeah. Basically it's discourse analysis. We studied different discourses (be it political, religious, military etc) using a new theory to point out the different techniques used.
