This isn't an advertisement actually. It's a review. I don't get a commission from Adam or Genelec for reviewing speakers BTW. I posted this because lots of my students want to know how to pick reference monitors and I thought this would be useful. Cheers!

Well, consider yourself lucky to be starting that young. You'll be able to afford speakers eventually. I started with crap speakers when I first got going, then upgraded, and upgraded. You're working on the skills and reading the forums. That's a great place to start. Best of luck with your tunes mate!

Yeah, you can find dec used monitors for sure. Even KRK Rockits are pretty cheap. Or, ask your parents to help you out. My folks were eager to support me in music when I was your age. If they see it as a legit passtime, they might help out.

think he's saying people would pay you more mind if you hung out on the reg rather than whenever you have new content
otherwise it does come off as advertisement even if just for your own free content

^^^

This. No one said it was an advertisement for the companies... My guess is that Immerse was saying that it was an advertisement for you... which I agree with. If you want to contribute to a community, that is great... but it will always be perceived as spam if your only "contributions" are to only promote your latest/greatest.

Fair enough. Here's my dilemma. I only have so many hours in the week to devote to education/forums/social media. I spend most of my time creating videos: reviews, tutorials etc. as I find people get the most value out of them. A single video is typically watched thousands of times, helping each viewer to some degree. If I spend all my time on forums, I don't end up making any more vids. Most forums appreciate me posting tutorials and reviews even though I can't hang out all the time, but that seems not to be the case here. All good.

I think that it is an advertisement.

No one is against the spreading of useful knowledge about studio monitors.

Its just that it comes off as blatant self-promotion given the sporadic nature of you're postings.

I had to stop getting hair cuts so I could afford the studio monitors ;) Some people say I don't have my priorities straight, but I disagree.

we appreciate what you post, it isn't like you have to partake full time
it's just nice to see people partake beyond spamming their own content
all that is being said
like ffs even a post a month as a response to a random thread shows you are part of the community more than just updates of your own content

like ie i know this shit your posting and half the shit on here, but i still hang out and try to help time to time and it takes me maybe 5 mins a night as a reg here
